I am having trouble locating the tach wire on my 2000 Silverado. I have checked the "white" wires that are on the steering column. None of them show 1 to 6 volts AC. I am not sure where to look under the hood. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Tach will be at the coil.

Apparently I am unable to follow instructions...can someone help me understand how to program the Valet 651T? I understand how to get to the different options, but don't understand how to use the inputs to change the values. I only hooked up the negative input, that interfaces with my Viper 300 ESP alarm's Channel 3 negative output. Do I need to also manipulate a positive input to program the Valet?

Thanks

Talk to me like I'm a two year old. Where is the coil and how do I find the wire there?

Thanks for you help.

Get the tach behind the instrument cluster, white wire. Pop off the bezel and remove the 4 7mm screws, very easy to get to....

I'm not familiar with a Valet 651T.

I agree with Mike. Easiest place is right behind the cluster, the harness that plugs into the intrument cluster has a white wire which is the tach wire you're looking for. This is where I grab it on every GM full size truck and SUV.

I am beating my head against the wall with this thing. When I used to install, I always thought of these as the easiest vehicles to work on...

I have a Valet 561T remote start, with a 555L Passlock Interface. I am still getting the security light flashing at me when it attempts to start the truck. I started it with the key and let it run for about 1 minute, the 555L book said it only needs 15 seconds.

I hooked the Yellow wire on the 555L to the Code-Producing Side (Coming from the Key) of the Yellow passlock wire. The Black-Yellow wire on the 55L to the non-Code-producing side (going down the column towards the firewall).

The black wire on the 555L is hooked to the ORANGE / black wire coming down the column (the Passlock ground reference).

Please tell me what I am doing wrong.

did you ground the neutral safety switch input?

Yes, but would that cause the factory security system to kick in? One thing I thought might be it, do I need to diode isolate the negative trigger on the 555L? Right now, I have the negative trigger coming out of the Valet Remot Start module going to both the Viper alarm and the 555L.

Thanks

will it crank when you remote start it with the key in the ignition? did you actually follow the program instructions for the 555L or did you just hook it up and start the truck thinking it would program automatically? its been a while but i think you just need to hold the small button on the 555L until it starts flashing and then start with the key and let it run.

as far as tach, you just need to find the the right wire and then start the truck while holding the valet button and let it run for a few seconds.

you should also check to make sure to have both of the ignition wires powered, they are pink, and white at the ignition harness.

you should power both orange and brown accessory wires too but i think only the orange is necessary for remote start.

why do you have your status output going to both the 555L and the alarm? it only needs to go to the 555L it will do nothing for the alarm. and when you say "negative trigger" do you mean the blue status output wire?
