Hey all,

My first install of the Hornet 740T went pretty well in my 1992 Mazda Miata.  It works!  I got a lot of good information from this forum before I started.  I just have a couple of questions.  Does anyone know of another place to tap into the parking lights besides the fuse panel?  I know this is a common spot and the wire is red and black, but I cannot locate it at the fuse panel.  Wires are packed in behind the fuse pan and I cannot find a red and black one!  Second, I used the DEI 508D "radar" module.  The cheapo Hornet 740T did not have a direct plug in for the module, but I learned from this site that I could install it by attaching the green and blue wires from the module to the blue (multiplex) wire of the alarm.  The problem is now all I get is a warn away chirps and no alarm trigger when I enter the interior zone (top down on the convertable).  I've fiddled with the adjustments a lot, so I'm not sure if I did something wrong in the install or it's the module.

Still looking for some advise on the location of the parking light wires.  I'm thinking they may be found coming out of the steering column since the switch is there.

I don't have access to my manuals until next week when I get back to my shop but I believe that the Miata light switch goes ground when you turn it on. You can also try the rocker panels as a possible location for the parking light wire.

Thanks Monty77 and 91sst for your help.  When I get a chance over the next few days I am going to look around the steering column and I'll try and trace the path of the wires to the parking lights themselves.

Possible parking light locations:

dimmer switch
harness coming down steering column (from headlamp switch)
behind radio
behind instrument cluster
behind any illuminated dashboard switch
driver's kick panel (running toward rear of car)
