I have a 2004 F250 crew cab with a remote entry key pad.  This pad does not work and i am trying to figure out how to fix it.  I've looked a the Haynes repair manual and can't find any useful information.  I'm wondering if the Vehicle security module is bad, but How can I test it?  What diagnostic steps would you recommend.

Thanks,

Love my F250 Diesel. (wish it was a 4x4)

stupid question, but have you checked the battery? you can also see if there are any fuses blown in the under-dash fuse panel by your knees.

Did the truck come with the pad from the factory or was it added at the dealer? The pad could just gone bad and needs replaced and not the keyless/security module.
