Need help here. I just bought new Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 CRDI 4WD. I plan to install Viper Alarm 5900 with autostart. I heard from my agent that my car have its own alarm and have a module controlling it. He advised me not to install the Viper alarm because it can spoiled the module that cost US$800+. However, I personally don't like the factory installed alarm as it is very common for the thief to know and disable it.  I plan to install it and need some advise from anyone that ever have their Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 CDRI 4WD installed with this type of car alarm.

i don't have any personal experience with ur specific vehicle, but i'm very sure the alarm and starter can be installed without problems by a professional installer, the dealer might have mean't to say damage may occur if the install is performed by novices, of course with the right guidance with the guys on this site i'm sure thay can walk u through the install,

Thanks for the reply. Actually I talk with my car dealer and the professional installer  but both of them gave me different view. The authorised dealer for the Viper Alarm said they have installed same car model like mine without any problem. However, my car dealer give me different version of his story. He said he have encounter car that was installed with car alarm and cause damaged to this module.  So now I still don't know what to do. Maybe I will just wait until more of this car in our market here.

i read the name, but i mean is that a country or part of a coubtry, the santa fe isn't as difficult as u make it to be,  may jus be a lack of expeience in your parts that's resulting in your predicament, if you've read alot of the posts on this forum you'll realize that the guys here can do most anything, and if you've ever read posts from guys like howie, chris wallace, ckeeler, chris luongo, and other longstanding members of this site, then you'll realize, notthing is impossible.

Actually Brunei Darussalam is just a small country. We only have 4 districts. Anyway, thanks for your info and ideas. It look like I can take the shoot and try to have it install. Maybe I will try to ask the authorised dealer of the alarm to get me in contact with the person they installed the alarm. Thanks again for your help.

wow sounds like someone rally doesnt know what theyre talking about here come on its a hyundai, what the dealer wants is for you to not buy your own alarm and buy there alarm, alarm are made for 12 volts and as long as that car has 12 volts at the battery that alarm is compatible and then its time to se if the installer knows what he is doing!
