they probably hardwired a relay antitheft bypass the wrong way. do you have a small black and silver piece sticking out of the metal part of your key? if so, they wired it so that whatever bypass they used is on all of the time. so when you go to start with the key, the truck senses double the resistance and wont let you start

when you remote start and then put the key in and turn it on and then step on the brake does the truck stay running? or does it stop?

is there a guide, schematic that shows the wires (colors) from alarm system to the wires of my truck? looking at the install manual for the 562t it looks like not everything is hooked the way it should be, i talked to the previous owner, he told me that the factory system went bad and he wired this one into most of the wireing that it used, which probably is wrong . therefor i think it would be best to completely start over. im capable of doing it myself and im scared that if i took it to a shop, they would charge me an arm and a leg that i cant right now afford. i only need this truck to last me through the winter

ok.....so if you put the key in and turn it on then press the button 2 times to stop the remote start, does the truck stay running on its own with just the key?? im asking you this because that truck doesnt have VATS or PASSLOCK, and so im thinking you have a bad ignition switch. the brake shutdown wire sounds like its not hooked up as well.

you definitly NEED to replace the switch. the remote start is not desinged to do what it is doing now. and its a hazzard. if you were driving and the remote start for some reason shut off the truck would then die while you were driving and cause you to possibly have an accident. in a good case senario you might just get stuck at a light or in an intersection or parking lot and not be in an accident, but you would have to get towed and thats not fun.

Honestly, you really have only one option at this point. Take it to a trusted technician and diagnose what the real problem is. It maybe simple enough that you can repair it yourself. ------------- Ideal - cmon dude, add to topics in a useful manner, not stuff that is obvious.
Story - Phzzzt! Hey, what happened?! ... Isn't it obvious?
Moral - Never dismiss the obvious.

fabman, no you do not need to spend even more money and take this to get diagnosed........after all we already did that and have found the problem (im not sure if loneranger reads the entire thread or not), and for the record, as well as for ranger, it IS simple enough to bypass yes, but you wont be able to take apart the switch and "repair" it or any thing like that. at any rate, its a little more complex than what you are thinking and I would not be able to just tell you how to do it without you being able to get in there with a DMM and do some testing yourself. i really recommend you replace the switch anyway. im sure you can find a cheaper one somewhere. have you scoured the internet yet? dont make me find one for you...lol.
