Subject: remote starter suggestions?

Over a year ago I put a remote car starter in my 2003 Jeep Liberty. I purchased the 'professional model' put out by Design Tech Intl. thinking it was of better quality than the DIY model. It's turned out to be unreliable, and the range really sucks.

My we recently purhcased a 2006 Jeep Liberty with a dealer installed Mopar remote starter. The range is awesome compared to mine, and it starts every time.

I'm looking for suggestions on what brand, model, etc. to replace my remote car starter.

TIA

Replacement for your 2003? Either way, I would recommend 1 or 2-way 1-mile range model. DEI produces some great products. There are other great manufacturers, as well. Are you looking for security in your R/S product?

-------------
Ideal - cmon dude, add to topics in a useful manner, not stuff that is obvious.
Story - Phzzzt! Hey, what happened?! ... Isn't it obvious?
Moral - Never dismiss the obvious.

Yeah. I'm looking to replace the remote starter in the 2003.

There a  quite a few different brand names DEI puts out. It's a bit confusing there are so many of them.

Any suggestions?

BTW, the remote starter I'm looking to replace is an AutoCommand 28624T. It was supposed to have up to 1000' range, but I could never get more than 100-200' range. I tried different antenna positions, and even different antennas. I've come to the conclusion that it's just junk.

I've own a couple Ready Remote models (23927) and they were great.

Sorry, I didn't answer your question, did I.

I'm just looking for a remote starter. I don't need security nor keyless entry.

I'm a big fan of Omega products, and the new Excaliber line is pretty good.

I've used the DEI Viper 550esp (but that is an alarm and RS), but it was a great unit. It's outdated now, so I'm actually looking for a different unit too. The Viper worked so well, though, that I'll probably look for another Viper, or at least DEI, unit.

I've also installed a few Crimestopper remote starters (CS2011rs-series III), and they worked pretty well. I installed them about 5 years ago, and they're still running strong and have good range. But then again, my experience is limited with this...the new models seem to do so much more. Where's the model that will drive the car to my doorstep? posted_image

Thanks for all the suggestions. I appreciate the feedback.
