I have a 2002 Ford Windstar. and the remote start is installed with the by pass unit. the starter will turn the engine over, but the car just cuts off after that... it doesnt stay started (running) did i install it wrong, or is there some sort of setting in the alarm that i need to change. also know that if i have the key in the on position the car will stay running, but then once its running the remote will not unlock or lock the doors, i either have to use the key to get into the car, or i have to turn the remote start off, before i unlock it, im not so much worried about that as i am worried about the car not staying running, any advice might be good advice, im at my wits end, messing with this stupid thing, thanks

  • What R/S system are you using?
  • What bypass module are you using?
  • Are you using the factory K/E remotes?

Ideal - cmon dude, add to topics in a useful manner, not stuff that is obvious.
Story - Phzzzt! Hey, what happened?! ... Isn't it obvious?
Moral - Never dismiss the obvious.

how long does the engine stay running for? have you connected a tach wire? if the engine remains running with the key in the on position it could be your ignition and accessory wires are reversed, try unplugging your bypass placing the key in the ignition cylinder, don't turn the keys on, and try remote starting, and post back with ur results.

there is another ignition wire you need to power that you are not powering.

it was the tach wire, it was connected but not connected, if u understand what i mean. however, the car keeps shutting off after a while, i have ran the shutdown diag. and it says over rev shut down... i guess i dont know what this means, because the TACH is not moving at all, it idles beautifully. i have tryed the jumper high and low rev, and both do the same thing, any ideas..

Thanks again.
