I have installed a CS2016 in a 03 Dakota a few months ago. Worked great until last week, of course it is cold here now. Now I have to be almost sitting in the truck for the remote start function to work. keyless entry has decent range, but the remote start does not. Changed battery, reprogramed remote. Any ideas???

Disconnect truck's main 12v battery..let it sit for a bit and then reconnect it.. see if that resets the CS2016's brain and fixes it.. worth a shot..

If not fixed, brain is possibly defective..

I'm not familiar with your remote starter, but I had a similar problem with mine. The KE worked fine (good range), but the RS had crappy range, or wouldn't work at all. My problem was that for the wire that you connect to a switch (to disable the remote starter whenever you want) had come loose. The wire goes to ground when you "arm" the switch. I'm not sure if your RS has this wire, though. Just an idea.

Its not in valet mode is it?  Are able to see the red led for status?  Just something to check.

will remote start if I'm sitting in truck. overall range has been cut by 3/4.

It is really crazy. last night the range was bad, this morning the range was back. I did not touch the truck nor was it moved.   HMMMMMM?

this may sound like a dumb response. but checkyour ground. almost all installers here will agree with me that a faulty ground can cause a hell of alot of problems. anything from range to not responding.
