Hello,
I have done my share of car audio in the past(subs, amps, speakers etc) but never attempted a remote starter with door unlocks.

There are a ton of wires and the installer told me that I won't use half of them.

Questions:
1. Is it fairly simple, and I'm just overwhelmed by the wires?

2. How will I know what I will and will not need to use?

3. Any tips from anyone who has used this model, or worked on this SUV before.

Thanks in advance, I'd like to attempt this tomorrow as it will be warmer out.

Dave

1) Yes.

2) You will need all of the heavy guage relay wires (Red, green, purple, pink, pink/wht, and orange). Harness H1 you will need: red, black, and white.  H2: light GREEN/ black.  H3: BLACK/ wht, PURPLE / wht, and brown.  Door locks (green & blue), antenna, and ribbon harness.

3) I usually  connect the blk/wht wire from H3 with ground instead of putting in the switch. Most of your wires will be in the drivers kick panel. Use the negative park lights, it's easier than going to two wires and using diodes.  Make sure you have accurate tech notes for the vehicle from directechs or audiovox. If you don't have a directechs password, Audiovox notes are free. Here's the link:     techservices.audiovox.com  just set up a free account, and you're on your way. Good luck!

Hey all,

where do I wire the hood pin too?

I assume you just tap it in to one of the wires on the python unit, but it doesn't say anywere that I can see which one.

Thanks
Dave

Blue and diode separate from same wire to trunk.

Actually, the hood pin input is grey. No diode needed.

Remote Stater Python xl1400

Hey all, i am almost done my install, i have an issue.

When I go to start, it tries to start for six seconds then stops.

The manual says if you turn the key to on and try and it starts then your ignition wiring is wrong.

Can someone tell me what the wires off of the heavy guage wiring harness should go to.
Im frustrated with this as i have already tried to flip flop my ignition wiring like the manual says.

Purple: Starter side starter wire
Green: Key side starter
Red 12v constant
orange: accessory
Pink white: 2nd igniton
Pink: ignition output

Ive tried a bunch of what i thought to be key side starter wires and all they do is keep the car trying to start the whole time I have it tapped.

Here is what audovox says:

Battery          RED (40A) & PINK (40A)          (+)          IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS
Ignition 1          ORANGE          (+)          IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS
Accessory 1          RED          (+)          IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS
     Accessory 2          YELLOW
Starter 1          GREEN          (+)          IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS
     Anti-Theft Type          UNIVERSAL IMMOBILIZER
Anti-Theft Descript          THE KEY SENDS AN RF SIGNAL TO THE BCM MODULE THROUGH AN ANTENNA LOCATED AROUND THE IGNITION CYLINDER
Key Sense          YELLOW          (+)          IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

Thanks in advance for your expertise!

You most likely need a bypass for your key. Try a DEI 556U.

What did you connect the thick RED / white (from the relay pack) of the Python to?

I was told no hyundai santa fes need bypasses.

i did not connect the RED / white or the second red.

I was following these recommendations which didnt mention the second red or the RED / white

"You will need all of the heavy guage relay wires (Red, green, purple, pink, pink/wht, and orange). Harness H1 you will need: red, black, and white. H2: light GREEN/ black. H3: BLACK/ wht, PURPLE / wht, and brown. Door locks (green & blue), antenna, and ribbon harness."

Green and Pink/White are still confusing me too.

Hey all,

My starter starts great. Here are my few issues.

1: I could not get the parking light function to work, the audiovox diagram is telling me about a wire that isn't there. Anyone have done this car before and know?
I hooked it up to the switch arm and it left the light on all the time, even with the car off and locked.

2. If I remote start the car, sometimes the unlock function doesn't work, not even on my factory keyfob. I have to shut the car down and then unlock it.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Dave

  • 1. Parking Lights          YELLOW & BROWN / ORANGE     (+)          FUSE BOX, GRAY 18 PIN PLG, PINS 3, 4
  • 2. Check you door lock/unlock connections. The factory K/E is dis-abled when the ignition is on.

Thanks for the reply, I went by those wires, and there aren't any of those colors on the gray harness plug in the fuse box.

What does K\E mean, sorry but I don't follow the door lock explanation.

They locked and unlocked fine tonight, it's wierd.
