I have installed a Python 1400xp remote starter in a 2006 Ford Escape and it won't remote start at all. The car doesn't turn over or nothing I have power to the module and everything because you can get into the menus to program features with the valet switch because the horn honks and the lights flash like they are supposed. I'm not sure if it because the system has tach learned or not. I don't know if it has tach learned since the steps aren't clear but here they are: 1st step says Start vehicle with key (done), 2nd Within 5 seconds press and hold valet/program switch (done), 3rd step The LED will light constant when the tach signal is learned (not sure if done or not), 4. Release program/valet switch (done). The instructions do not say how long to how the valet switch done for or how long the LED will stay constant. When I did this yesterday it stayed constant for about a second then went off also the LED now stays constant all the time when the car is off I am not sure if it tach learned or not. Thanks for all your help.

You may not have a proper tach signal and it's in valet mode. Do you realize this vehicle requires a bypass module? You didn't state that you used one in your post. ------------- Ideal - cmon dude, add to topics in a useful manner, not stuff that is obvious.

are you using a bypass for the antitheft system? or did you just hook up the remote starter as is? try to remotestart it with the key in the ignition in the off position. if it starts or at least turns over then you need a bypass. if you still get nothing from the car, turn the key to the run position (dont start with key) and then try to remote start it again. if the car tries to start now then you have probably missed an ignition wire
your LED stays on probably because you accidentally put you system into valet mode when you were tach learning, do you have the tach wire hooked up and what did you connect it to?

Ok thank you I don't know where to exactly hook it on I have it on a coil on plug since every guide I have read said do not hook it to red or RED / white but not exactly which wire for the tach to hook it to but we tested the tach wire it is sending signal but on the coil plug we get approx 100 millivolts with the car running. Sorry yes I do have a bypasss module I am using a directed 555F I told the person the wrong yeyar Escape I said an 04 not an 06 like she has but I thought it still may work. I hooked the blue wire on the 555F into the blue negative wire that says status output coming off of the black box on the satellite relay. I wasn't sure if that was the correct wire or not since the guide to me was unclear where to hook a bypass module. If it still doesn't work I bought a PKU-F2 and on bypasskits.com it said it would work for an 06 Ford Escape. I have tried to remote start with the key in the on position but no luck. I see that I maybe in valet mode I didn't even think of that thank you again.

Do I need to hook up the RED / white 12 volt input it says in the manual : If additional capacity is needed cut this wire, add an adaquate fuse for the circuit to be supplied, and connect to and additiona 12 volt source. I do not at this time have it hooked up to the 12 volt source due to the way it reads.

I also read this in a forum about a python xp 1400 not working at all like mine and one of the replies was to: try this, there should be a WHITE/ blue wire off the remote start, tap it to ground twice, this should cause the remote start to trigger and start up the vehicle, if this does work then i would say that there is most likely a problem with the remote not being able to communicate with the RS, if not then it is with the antenna/ antenna wiring. if that does not work and you are getting voltage to the larger gauge red wires off the satellite and the smaller gauge red wire off the brain, and you have a good ground then I would say your RS brain is bad.

- I doubt you have a defective Python 1400XP module.
- The system is in valet mode.
- 555F is the wrong bypass.
- The 1400XP's RED / WHITE wire is #87, of the on-board relay cricuit. The PINK/WHITE wire is #30, of the same relay. If the circuit is needed, it should be fused adequately, for the load it is operating.

all of the large red and RED / white wires need to be hooked to 12v+ i think the red /white supplies power to either the purple starter wire or the accessory circuit so just tap it into the other large red wires that you have hooked up.
555F is the wrong bypass so you should unhook it first, then use the key to test your system temporarily until you get a new bypass. if you can get it to remote start with just the key in the ignition, turned to the off position, then you know your wiring is ok and all you have left to do will be the bypass -------------

- The PYTHON 1400XP's RED wires supply power for the 3 on-board circuits, ACC STARTER and IGN. The RED wires are ganged to the relays, accordingly.

Well this car doesn't have a 2nd ignition so I shouldn't need to hook up the pink/white or the RED / white? Does the wire I tapped into for the tachometer reading sound like it would work or should I test and find another wire?

I am looking for a tach wire to hook up a remote starter for a 2006 Ford Escape all the diagrams on here just say not to hook up to red or RED / white but not what wire is a good wire for tach sensing. All the diagrams say you can hook to ignition coils or injectors. I used an ignition coil green wire that is read approx 100 millivolts. Thanks for your help in advance.

You still need to hook up both fused 12v inputs to the relay pack or else it will not work. There are 2 inputs, 4 outputs.
Inputs: Red, and Red (looped over to a RED / white)
Outputs: Starter, Accessory, Ignition 1, Ignition 2.
You are using 3 of the outputs....if you don't connect both inputs, then only 2 outputs will work. I don't remember off the top of my head which one won't work....but NOT connecting both Red INPUTS is your problem. Keep looking for another tach wire....it won't solve your main problem.
The manual mentions cutting the RED / white wire from the red wire and connecting it to its own input. It does not say that the 2nd red wire is not needed.

Another thing....the 555F does not work on the Escape. You would have to have used a 555s from that time period, or any of the other dozen or so modules currently available.

Not to sound like I am bashing you but I do know I am just trying to make sure I was trying to verify since I did not see the Dark GREEN/ Violet or the Violet/White wire under the hood on any of the coil packs so I was just making sure that was all. I have only installed one and installing a second one I am a "newbie" I don't know everything since all cars are not alike.
