I have installed a DEI 561R with a PKUCH2X in a 2006 dodge ram 1500 and I'm having a couple of problems. First I can't get the r/s to recognize the tach. I measured 3.4 volts AC at the injector and on the tach wire next to the r/s and it still won't program. Second about 50% of the time the truck starts and shuts off after a few seconds the other 50% it starts and stays running. Temperature doesn't seem to matter. If I leave the key in the ignition it starts and stays running every time. I tested the bypass module's programing by holding it next to the ignition cylinder and starting the truck with a disassembled key and it worked fine. I used the PURPLE / brown mux wire right next to the ignition cylinder and I tried a 1k ohm resister between the bk and pink wires of the bypass and nothing made a difference. I had the same problem on another 06 ram that I used to have and its driving me insane! Thanks for any insight you guys can give me on this.
Also forgot to mention when it fails to stay running the lights and accessories stay on for the programed amount of run time and there is no second attempt at starting the truck.
Check your ring or your ground out while running on your bypass module. if the car starts with the key in the ignition chances are you could have a bad ring or gwr. When the car doesn't start does the security light on the dash flash and come on solid? It is usually a red circle in the cluster or on top of the dash
I tried the coil for the tach as well as the bk/or at the pcm made no difference. When the truck doesn't start the security light flashes but I don't think it comes on solid. I'll check for sure and i'll check the gwr. Weird thing is I had the same problem on a different 06 ram with a different 561r and a different module but it did the exact same thing excluding the tach problem. I also got an engine light and an airbag light on two seperate occaisions but they cleared when I restarted the truck with the key (airbag) and disconected the battery (engine light). This thing is driving me nuts I can eventually get it to start after a couple of tries but it's a pain having to watch and listen every time instead of just hitting the button and forgeting about it.
thanks
