Hi I have a 91 honda prelude, It is obd-1 manigement and has a resistor box for the fuel injectors, manual transmission and speedo and factory tach are by wire via electonic vehicle speed sensor.. I need to know if I can install the Clifford Black Jax g5 as a stand alone or in conjunction with my compustar install. I also need to know if I should or will need to get and install the dei rpm module. I did search like a week ago and didn't find anything directly related to my question. I know the older versions of the clifford Black Jax was advertised to work as a stand alone or with alarms other than dei stuff. Also I remembered seeing something about getting rpm from fuel injector wire but unsure if I have the same kind of voltage needed there thus the obd1 and injectors with a resistor box aswell as the vss mention. I have an install list sheet for general alarm install as far as general wire locations. Also would like to know if there was a key pad I could use instead of the plain view switch? I have read the black jax g5 owner's manual online and it didn't answer intall questions at dei website. I am guessing that I can just leave the Black Jax g5 in valet mode and setup the remote start feature, exit the car, and remote start in the morning?

Back of tach on inst panel for Tach. You are asking too many questions, also I would say why bother with Blackjax, personally my late German Shepherds and myself found it a bloody nuisance.

hmm I don't mind the nuisance. I would have to check my paperback shop manual electrical troubleshooting book but the honda accord / prelude alarm install download from ebay said blue wire on distributor. Not sure that is too keen of an idea reading the f.a.q. on this forum for rpm sensor. Live in nice neighborhood at the moment but venture to the hood frequently and have been broken into before. Thats the beauty of the Black Jax if I understand it correctly it can be switched off to valet mode for more than just one startup so you could just use when parking in a problem area. I also like its anti-carjacking feature.

It is the blue,  also on some models it's taped to the engine bay loom,  behind the right hand suspension strut with a black plug.  Please don't hold to me to which side because I'm going on R/H/drive Jap/UK spec where its the right hand or US passenger side.  Actually I use the DEI tach sensor but usually only on diesels,  use it because you're not affecting the car's ignition system in any way and it's pretty accurate.
