Hey first I want to say what a wonderful site with loads of great information. I purchases the python 1400 remote starter to install in my wife's and I want to make sure I have all the parts and details before starting. What I have found out is that these usually are not that confusing as long as you aren't missing a relay or bypass. So my questions are; I plan on using a GMDLBP for the bypas. Will this be the only one i need? Is this the same as using the PLJX and XK01? any suggestions/recommendations. The r/s came with the 451 relay for the door locks. Is there anything else I should have to worry about? And last I want to hook up the trunk release but the instructions are a little weak in this area. Will I just need to get a relay to install? I appreciate any suggestion you can provide. Jason.

you dont need a truck release relay. should be fine with RED / white hooked to the switch.

The GMDLBP is nice, although there are other ways you could do this car and save a few dollars.
You could get a module to bypass ONLY the car's Passlock system (like a DEI 555L, for example), and then wire up the car's doorlocks and trunk yourself.
On the other hand, the GMDLBP saves time and will make your install easier. You won't have to worry about configuring your 451M, or how to wire up the trunk, because the module takes care of all that for you.

Chris, When you say I don't have to worry about the configuring of the 451M, do you mean I don't need to use it if I use the GMDLBP?

That is correct.

Well this almost sounds too easy, I must be missing something.

Have you already read the install guide for the GMDLBP?
It's right on their site at bypasskit.com, and I wouldn't buy any module without being able to see the install guide first.
And no, it really does the locks for you. It does cost a good bit extra, so that's the whole idea of why you're paying for it.
P.S. I do the locks on these cars with just one diode and one resistor, instead of messing with relays or a 451M, but it does take a little bit of playing around with the resistor value to get it to work.
But if you're buying the GMDLBP, you don't have to worry about that anyway.

I read the install guide for the GMDLBP and I guess I didn't realize it functioned like that. I was just worried about the current for performing the unlocking and locking but it appears it is a negative signal on both with additional resistance on one. Does the GMDLBP have to be programed or flashed specific for my car?? And will I still need to diode isolate all the connections?

Doesn't need any flashing, no. (It's not even flashable if you wanted to.)
When you initially plug it in for the first time, there is a procedure to tell the module it's going to be for an Impala (and not a DeVille, or Trailblazer, or Tahoe platform), and then you start the car with the key.
On very rare occasions, the postive/negative flip/flop outputs from the Python's lock/unlock wires could get the module a little upset.........you could put a diode on the lock and unlock wires before they go into the GMDLBP, but most of us don't bother, and it works out fine.
