I recently installed a Mars 22 on my 2003 GMC Sierra HD with Dmax. I used the Omega DB-GMDLBP for the doorlocks. and security bypass. Problem I'm having is with the horn. No matter what settings I use, the horn blows three times, whenever the key is rotated to the start position. It got so annoying, that I finally cut the horn wire, from the mars.

Problem now is, I get no confirmation, upon locking or unlocking the doors. I am pretty confident that I have the DB-GMDLBP set to the correct mode (4). I cannot seem to get back to the programming part of the GM-GMDLBP, after the intial power up, if I press the programming button, the light blinks six times.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

The Mars22 will chirp the horn for the first 48 hours after the initial install or anytime transmitter programming is performed on the system. If you are experiencing this right after installing the system, it is normal. If it has been more than 48 hours than there is another problem. Can you confirm if you are experiencing this after the first 48 hours?

It got me so annoyed, I cut the wire from the mars, to the horn, the night I installed it. Unit has been installed for one week, I will reconnect the wire tomorrow, and see if it still chirps. Thanks for the reply.

Dumb question, but why would it do it for for the first 48 hrs, is that some sort of annoyance feature that Omega included for free? It makes more sense now though, this unit is one of two, I had installed, on both mine and my wife's trucks, two years ago. The install shop did not hook the horn up on either one.

I needed to move this unit from my old truck, to my new one. On those installs, the parking lights would flash, and we had brand new two way remotes that would signal, lock, unlock. I had to send my two way remote back, and have it replaced. But the parking lights are not flashing on my 03 either.

Forgive my ignorance, and long post.

It's a security feature, to let you know a remote has been learned to the system.

I reattached the horn to the R/S, all is well. Thanks again for the help. Also was able to figure out why my steering wheel controls had stopped working, it seems I bent one of the connector pins over, in the large bale connector, felt silly, but got it fixed.

I appreciate the help.

OK, This AM a new wrinkle surfaced. While leaving for work, I got about 50 feet out of the garage, and the horn began honking, and the security light on the dash was lit up. I had used the R/S to start the truck, it was sitting, UNLOCKED, in my back garage. The truck was running when I got in, placed the key in the run postion, and started to pull out of the driveway, thats when the factory alarm went off.

I had the power disconnected, from both the R/S and the DB-GMDLBP, last nite, while reattaching the horn wire. Should I have reprogramed something, after hooking the power back up??

Was the bypass unit wired up to disarm the OEM security?
You may need to connect the Bypass Violet/White to Mars YELLOW /GREEN.
You may try unplugging the bypass, disconnect the violet wire, plug in the bypass and than reconnect the violet wire. According to the manual, the violet wire should not be connected until all other wire are connected and plugged into bypass module. Not sure if this is causing it but it is worth a try.

Thanks, it only happened that one time, this AM. I have used the R/S key less entry, three times since then, with no honking horn (alarm type honking).

But no, the bypass was not hooked up the the factory alarm. The only wires I hooked up on the bypass were, 12v constant, ground, two plugs that went to the mars unit (total of three wires, in those two plugs) then the violet wire, to the #2 pin on the data port.

It may have just been a fluke deal, if it continues to happen, I'll do what you instructed.

Thanks for answering all my ignorant questions, I appreciate it.

OK, I'm back, I just noticed that whenever the truck is started with the key, the security ligth on the instrument cluster stays lit up. I tried both of the keys I have, and they both do it. If the truck is started with the remote, it does not light. What have I done wrong? Any one have any thoughts????

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, but I do not understand what it means. I searched "Key Cylinder" on here, but did not see any help. Could you, or someone else, please elaborate on what you mean.

Sorry to be a pest, thanks for all the help.

Well I searched it, without any success. Thanks for the input, I think I'll attempt to reprogram the bypass?
