The VSM shuts down after the doors have been locked for a certain time period, you need to wake up the system.

theres a light green / yellow wire coming out of the door boot thats the drivers door ajar wire you can use a relay and 5 wire it using the FAD wire to pulse the relay the wire rests on ground with the door closed and is open with the door open you can use a relay to simulate that
------------- If i Can't Install it I Don't need it Joe

thanks for the reply... the doors have never unlocked or locked from 1400xp remote, I would think they would have worked a time or too during install considering key has been in ignition for pkall programming, driver's door open the whole time etc. maybe I am missing the point here somehow (very likely considering it's me ) anyway can you give me your preferred way of waking it up?, do I use the FAD wire solution also posted to my question?, can I just turn off the auto-lock feature of the vehicle per the owners manual?, lot's of different ideas in this forum, just wondering what the best way to proceed is thanks alot ------------- Kevin S

You said you tested the wires with a multimeter and they are in fact the right ones, did you test the output of the 1400XP to ensure that the door trigger outputs are infact sending a (-) pulse to the wires that you tested ?

I seem to be regressing here... now I cannot r/s, car cranks and starts for a couple seconds with the key in (not ON just IN) not sure what happened to pkall bypass, it will not program though following instructions, plug in connector 1 while holding button, then plug in connector 2, release button when light comes on, turn key 1 to on wait for dash light to go out remove key, insert key 2 turn to on, wait for light to go out, remove key r/s vehicle expect 10 flashes.... light just stay's solid on pkall. does anybody have tx and rx wire colors at pats connector for 05 mountaineer?, pretty sure I have them connected right, but would like to verify everything and no, I still have no door locking/unlocking, but wanted to resolve this new issue first thanks all ------------- Kevin S

I have got everything working now, except the *&#*$& door lock/unlock, 1400xp has Never locked or unlocked the doors... supposed to be simple 2 wire from 1400xp to two wires in drivers kick... I don't think I am getting a good ground pulse from the r/s, don't know the best way to test this either any thoughts would be much appreciated ------------- Kevin S

I have checked and rechecked if I take a spare piece of wire and connect to the vehicle lock/unlock wires and then touch ground, the locks lock and unlock everytime ------------- Kevin S

Ok, so you definitely have the correct lock/unlock wires in the car.
If I remember right, there's a second 3-pin connector on the 1400XP, that's for DEI's Bitwriter programmer, but it's also the same size/type of connector as the doorlock plug.
So there are two three-pin ports on that brain, one is black, one is white......is your doorlock harness in the white connector?
Put your meter to the outputs of the Python, and see if they make a ground when you press lock and unlock.

Can you tell me the exact way to do that with my meter, I'm not seeing anything from the white port, except +12v from the middle unused pin thx ------------- Kevin S

Dis-connect the R/S's lock/unlock wires from the vehicle. Set your DMM to read DC VOLTS, at a range greater than 12 volts. Attached the RED lead from your DMM to +12v and attach the BLACK lead to R/S's BLUE(-unlock) wire. Operate the unlock output. Duplicate the procedure for the R/S's GREEN (- lock) wire and operate the lock output. ------------- Ideal - cmon dude, add to topics in a useful manner, not stuff that is obvious.

That's what I had been trying, thanks for the verification though, for now I am using second unlock wire and channel 4 wire for locks I will get a new brain and fix it, will a 1400xpl plug in where a 1400xp was?? just curious thanks to all who commented/assisted ------------- Kevin S

Yes. However, the 1400XPL should come with a long-range (1-mile) receiver/antenna and remotes, but the modules are the same. Remeber to diode isolate the lock/unlock wires from the R/S to the vehicle. POWER LOCK | PINK / YELLOW (TYPE B) | IN DRIVERS KICK PANEL, IN DOOR HARNESS | | POWER UNLOCK | PINK/LIGHT GREEN (TYPE B) | IN DRIVERS KICK PANEL, IN DOOR HARNESS | |
