I am having a substantial problem wiring my remote start unit with my 2005 Colorado. I've looked at a lot of posts already, but it seems to be very vague. My remote start unit needs a 12 + constant wire = Inigtion wire = Starter wire = Would anybody be able to tell me what I could connect these wires to on the Colorado? Thanks Tim Replies: Posted By: Twelvoltz Date Posted: February 19, 2009 at 9:30 PM #508002: 2005 CHEVROLET COLORADO 2DR TRUCK WITH 2.8L ENGINE AND 2-SPEAKER AUDIO SYSTEM Audio/Mobile Video WIRE COLOR POLARITY LOCATION Battery ORANGE (+) RADIO HARNESS Accesory CLASS 2 DATA THE RADIO HARNESS DOES NOT PROVIDE A SWITCHED POWER SOURCE. Posted By: dr.jon007 Date Posted: February 19, 2009 at 10:06 PM the ignition harness doesn't have enough current capacity to run an aftermarket remote start system so you will have to run your own constant power. and here is the document to do the relays for ignition, acc, and passlock bypass.
Posted By: dr.jon007 Date Posted: February 19, 2009 at 10:27 PM ok, so I was kidding about posting the document, I can't seem to attach a pdf file on here... so if you want pm me with your email and I can send it to you that way. Sorry about the teaser. Posted By: flobee4 Date Posted: February 20, 2009 at 11:10 PM I just did this car today, everything can be gotten at the drivers side. lock/unlock - can be found above parking brake in harness coming in from the drivers door. Loom is kinda stuffed in a hole. loom needs to be cut open to access wires. Wire colors are listed above. Brake wire - at brake switch Parking lights and Dome light supervision - at headlight switch, wires can be accessed from behind switch, without removing switch, just look up and behind switch and you can get to it easily. Use negative parking lights-BROWN / White. There are 2 so use your meter, I believe one was for the dash light dimmer. So spin dimmer and make sure your voltage doesn't change. Dome light supervision is Purple(negative), There were 2 purple, one is negative all the time. The other is your dome light wire and is tested when turning the dimmer switch all the way up so the dome lights come on. Tach - Use odd color wire on fuel injector - Large grommet above and behind parking brake. Bypass - I used a PXLR in the past, but this one had factory alarm. There is no way to disarm the alarm using the PXLR bypass. The car still starts, but factory alarm sounds. The customer could just stop using his factory controllers and the factory alarm would not set. You can also install an alarm/remote start combo. An alternative bypass(I used this one today) is by idatalink.com Their Bypass is also a doorlock interface. They have the ability to do everything the PXLR does but also controls locks and the factory alarm. The only downfall is the bypass needs to unlock the door before remote start to disarm. Then it relocks. So the car is unlocked for about 7-10 seconds when remote starting. My Customer didn't mind this.... oh, If you use the idatalink bypass you do not wire the lock/unlock wires to the car, they goto the bypass instead and the bypass locks and unlocks the car through "data" To test for factory alarm, Open the driver door window, and close the drivers door. Hit lock on the factory remote, and wait about a minute or more. Reach in the window and unlock the drivers door from inside and open the door. If you hear the horn going off, its got an alarm.
