was recommended to this site by some fellow prelude owners and hopin someone here can help me out. i have a 97 JDM Honda Prelude (right side drive) and am trying to install a remote start/keyless entry/alarm system. it is a code alarm ca-611 and i have everything installed and working except for the keyless entry portion (just a 3 wire harness, 1 for lock, 1 for unlock and 1 for 2nd step unlock; all negative outputs). i am finding that all the information i find online in regards to wiring for the USDM Prelude is different then the JDM Prelude and have been unable to locate negative lock and unlock wires in my car that are present in the USDM model. i have been able to get to two wires in my passenger side door and at the drivers kick panel below the fusebox that i believe are positive lock and unlock wires for the doors though. the problem is that i dont know which system it is even after reading up on the different door lock systems usually available in cars.

the lock wire reads ground at rest and when the door lock is pushed it reads +12V for a split second, but at the same time the unlock wire, which rests at ground gets a split second reading of somewhere between +.5V and +3V (i cant really tell as the digi multimeter im using just jumps real quick). the same scenario happens for the unlock wire with it reading +12V when door unlock is pushed with the lock wire reading some voltage. after the switch is pressed to either lock or unlock both wires return to ground.

this is my dilemma and im hoping its nothing to hard to wire up and get working. thanks for anything that anyone can help me with!

If this is a Japanese market car it might not even have a motor in the driver's door, just a switch!  Remove door trim panel and check, also if there is a motor, see if it has 5 wires coming from it, 2  will go to ground to trigger lock and unlock. A third either black or white black and the fourth and fith will be motor wires probably WHITE/ red and WHITE/ green.  Check at  the motor, if this is so follow the trigger wires into the car.

thanks for the quick reply howie II! i popped the drivers side door panel off and found five wires coming from what looked to be a motor inside the door near the locking mechanism. 1 constant ground wire, 2 wires that registered voltage for both lock and unlock, and 2 wires that i think are the trigger wires. the 2 i think are trigger wires are blu/orng (rests at +5V, when switched to unlock registers 0V and then sits at around 3-4mV) and blu/wht (rests at +5V, when switched to lock registers 0V and then sits at around 1.5mV).

do these sound like theyd be the correct wires? if so ill have to trace them into the car!

Trace them into the car, then flip the lock catch on the driver's door, close the passenger door and ground each one in turn, making sure key isn't in ignition.  You might have to disconnect or push home the driver's door contact though I'm not too sure.  Grounding each one in turn will give you the answer and do no damage, at worst a blown fuse. The colours you mentioned seem about right.
