Subject: Use keyless to activate shaved handles

      I have  keyless entry on my alarm but I have no door locks due to the fact that with my shaved handles I don't really need them. My question is this,,, Can I somehow use the keyless outputs of my alarm to activate the swithes of my shaved door handles? Any help will be greatly apreciated!!!!!!!!

wicked....that's exactly what i did with my truck...I had an Alpine 8028 that popped my doors open all i used were door lock actuators instead of actual "door poppers"
. But it does all depend on the type of vehicle and alarm that you have so that they can work together. So what type of vehicle, alarm and what kind of actuators?

  My truck is a 1978  1/2 ton GMC and the alarm is a Crimestopper CS-2003FC. I even bought  a 2 door power lock  add-on kit  cuz I  couldn't find anyone who could help me with this problem. I haven't put it in yet. Would this kit  be able to help do this like yours? Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!!

My solution to shaved handles is just get a trunk poper, install it in the door to pull on the handle then you get what is called a door poper. All it is bassicly is a spring powered cylinder - - you install it so when the trunk poper pulls the door handle it will push on the door, opening it.

i would think you'd still want to lock the doors, no?

I'm located in Minneapolis, Mn. You really wouldn't need to worry about locking, theres nothing to pull on the outside to open the door. If the window was open you could just unlock it from the inside. You could alway just install a switch that would prevent the trunk poper from working. This is just one of many ways you could accomplish the task at hand.

I have a couple of pictures that might help ya if you want them...just to give you a rough idea. First get an idea of where your main handle rod is...because what you have to do is mount the actuator inline with that main rod right, bend the rod accordingly so that it will fit into the whole of the arm on the actuator....In my case i had to fully extend the actuator (lock position) so that when i pulsed it through my alarm it would retract (unlock) then return to its normal position. You might have to add a spring of some sort (maybe not though) and the bottom right corner of each door so that it pops it open enough to get your finger in....my doors were light enough that i didn't have to...As far as actuators go, trunk or lock/unlock, it don't matter. I'd like to hear back from ya to see how it turns out...

I did this once before on a ride. the door poppers, were already installed, but had an electrical switch. all I did was determine switching type. Hook up a couple of relays. and whenever I hit disarm it would pop the drivers door. if I hit the aux it would pop the passengers door. the trick was the relays.

hehehe, well i'm in Socal, so locking doors is a natural reaction...

i have done several of these and it gets a little easier with each one, but not much posted_image

It is easy just wire a relay - 85 constant +12V, 86 alarm unlock output(negative),30 constant +12V, 87 output to solieniods. Just a tip, buy at least a thirty five pound solienoid(door lock actuators are usually either 8 or 12 pound, and being an older truck I recommend 50 pound, also a trunk popper probably wouldn't open your doors either, I believe that they are around 10 pounds) and popper(basically a spring that mounts inside of the door jam). Regular lock actuators are not strong enough to open a door, trust me I have tried and I own a civic. As for your locks make sure that you disconnect them from the inside lock switch and make sure that they are clear of anything that can lock the door, if you lock the doors you are SOL, the alarm will not open the door if it is locked. Also to any one who likes to go to the drag strip, most will not let you on the track without external door handles! If you need parts check out autoloc.com, they have everything you will need.

Otay....try this out....

Hook up lock and unlock, as you normally would for power locks.

Than use an auxillary channel of your alarm to trigger the door(s) to pop. You'll need to use a relay. follow the above set up. Just remember. If the alarm channel is going to put out a positive signal, instead of negative, you'll need to make 85 a ground.
