Hey, I just installed the viper 5901 on my 2008 Scion xB. Everything works, the alarm arms and disarms, doors lock and unlock. Kill switch works when alarm is activated. But when I hit the remote start button it seems to want to work, my dash lights up and I hear some clicking, the alarm attempts to start three times but the engine does not turn over. After that I get a "remote start error" on the remote...
Thank you for any help!
-Mike

did you use any bypass for the factory security, also on a side note ( not that i think this is the problem but they could arise after you hook your bypass) are you using a tach signal or are you gonna use. voltage or virtual tach. ------------- COMMIT YOUR WAY TO JEHOVAH AND HE WILL ACT IN YOUR BEHALF.

It just says "remote start error" and there are no flashes indicating that the was one of the regular errors, ie... Brake, hood , or door sensor.
I do not have a factory alarm but i guess there is a factory security system. If that's the case, then no I did not bypass it. Do I need a relay to do this?
And I am using the tach signal... will that cause a problem?
THANKS!!

Try remote starting it with the key in the switch in the off position. If it starts, you will need a bypass module.

I put the key in, in the off position and it still will not start

turn it to the on position and see f it starts, if it does , the you have mixed up your ignition and accesory wires, if all goes well and you've reached this far then you can start looking for bypass units.

once you've made sure the wires are in their correct places, place the key in the ignition cylinder leave in the off position and try remote starting, if it starts without the key in you need no bypass if it starts with the key in, well you can figure the rest, also have you learned the tach to the unit, if no then please do, or program it to voltage for the time being so you won't get too confused.

Ok, so I have the manual in front of me, it reads;
When the remote start function is activated and the 2-way remote emits an error tone; you have the ability to see what the cause of the no-start situation is by counting the amount of flashes of the parking lights from the vehicle.
5 flashes Brake wire is active
6 flashes Hoodpin wire is active
7 flashes Manual transmission mode is enabled and not initialized
8 flashes Neutral safety wire has no ground or the neutral safty
switch is off.
I get no flashes... none...

ok i just checked, there is no factory immobiliser on this car so you have an issue with the tach or the wiring like i mentioned earlier.

the shut down diagnostic says that I have "Low or no RPM'
I need to check that tach connection... or should I use virtual tach?

Ok, I think I found the problem,
I have two Ignition wires
and two starter wires
Ignition 1 is connected
Ignition 2 is connected
Starter 1 is connected
Starter 2 is NOT connected
The Manual says that the Pink/Black and Pink/White can be programed to be Ignition2, 2nd Accessory or 2nd Starter .....

OK so that is what it was. I need to connect a relay to the second Starter cable.
Thanks for all the help guys!

Im having the same problem in my 2008 Honda Accord I have the 5901 as well using the xk07 for lock, unlock, trunk pop etc i thought it also handled door triggers., and pkh34 immobilizer, it doesnt attempt to start at all, It Says REMOTE START ERROR when i try. When i arm it, it arms but says door and hood are open, thats why im figuring the remote start wont work. But everything is closed. Im getting no flashes from headlights after I attempt to start it. ??? ------------- Live For The Music
