I have a 1997 mitsubishi eclipse gsx 5 speed. I connected everything that I need to remote start it. Theres a remote start input wires. here it is

"Remote Start Input
Function--------------------------------------- alarm wire---------------------vehicle wire--------------------location
NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH INPUT--------------BLACK/ WHITE---------------Blue/Red-------------------------Instrument cluster blue plug
TACHOMETER INPUT WIRE----------------------VIOLET/WHITE--------------Green----------------------------Instrument cluster white plug
BRAKE SHUTDOWN WIRE ---------------------- BROWN------------------------ Green-------------------------Door Kick Panel
HOOD PIN SWITCH INPUT --------------------- GRAY --------------------------Lead from Hood Pin --------Installed hood Pin switch in Hood
REAR DEFOGGER -------------------------------- BLUE/WHITE -----------------WHITE/ Black------------------Climate control plug at switch

So I connected everything but the rear defogger and the hood pin switch. I connected the neutral saftey wire to a harness that controls the light on the instrument cluster. Anyways On the viper you have to tach learn(which I did and that went fine.) Then you have to make the module into manual transmission mode which I tired to do, heres what you have to do

1.shut the door
2press the breake
3pull the ebrake
4 release the brake, and with in 15 seconds press the remote start on the alarm
5.Turn the ignition off
6step out of the car
7arm the car and it should shut off

So I get up to step 4 but the remote send out a error and my parking lights flash 7 times. In the manual it says that If it does that then Manual transmission mode is not active. BUT THATS WHAT I WAS TRYING TO SET. So idk wassup. I dont think the viper module is getting that the ebrake is up or something. When the car is switch on I get voltage(13volts with the ebrake down and 0volts when the ebrake is up) Is there a wire that shows that same voltage when the car is completely off? Or am I doing the Manual Transmisison mode Wrong? I dont have to turn on my car or anything to do it? Because step 5 it says to turn the ignition off. So does that mean I have to turn the key "on" then take it back out?

Its not seeing one of three things.

Parking brake,brake or tach signal.

Thats what I thought too. But its seeing everything that you listed. I checked the wiring that goes straight to the module. I tapped everything maybe 5 inches away from the module to see if it was getting anything. But for the ebrake, It only shows something if the car is turned "on" But dosen't show anything while off

What do you mean by "harness that controls the light on the instrument cluster?"

Does your car have some sort of dashboard light that indicates the car's in neutral? I've seen that on some motorcycles, but never on a car.

At any rate, if that BLACK/ white neutral safety wire doesn't see a ground, the remote start isn't going to work. Make sure it gets a ground when the car's in neutral (whether the engine is on or off). Or just tie it to chassis ground in the car.
