i have a problem guys and i need some suggestions or a possible solution other than a trip to the toyota dealer unless it's absolutely neccesary, i did a 2005 toyota camry a while back, viper 5002, and removed the toyota kelyess that was previously installed, the problem is the a/c only circulates cool air when the temperature settings are set to cold max, increasing the temp by point five of a  degree  immediately brings hot air into the car, what could have caused this and what can i do to remedy the situation, i have no blown fuses, and have tried disconnecting the battery pole and letting it sit to try a reset but still nothing. thanks in advance.

it sounds like an issue with the car and not the R/S t&t. you stated that you did the install some time ago, did this problem just start happening, or did it occur right at the time of the install?

right after the install, it is the car, and the alarm is not remote start, so i know a setting went off somehow, but i just need some pointers in the right direction.

Sounds crazy, but do you know the ac was blowing cold before you did the install?  Possible that the owner didn't notice it until after the alarm was installed.

Does this car have automatic climate controls or manual?

If they're automatic, on the driver's side underdash panel is the cabin air temperature sensor.

It consists of a temperature sensor, a two-pin wire harness going to it, and an air tube that makes a small suction......this is what keeps cabin air passing over the sensor.

It's possible that the sensor is unplugged, or the air hose is unattached, or that it's not properly fastened to the hole in the dashboard to let the cabin air pass into the sensor.

Darren, Chris probably hit on the answer, I haven't done Camrys for years, that and the Maxi were quietly dropped from UK  about 5 years ago...BMW and Audi just murdered them sales wise, any way one more thought, did you have to unplug any heater controls? Those things have to be "rammed" home.

thanks alot chis i'll try that and let you know, and howie, i didn't unplugg any jacks from anywhere except the ones chris just mentioned, everything i needed was easily accesible without requiring the removal of any plugs. thanks again.

The part Chris is talking about will pop off the bolster without unplugging anything. It's to the right of the steering column and is a black box type thing with a plug and a hose connected to it. It's not attached well to the bolster and will come off by itself without you even noticing...

thanks a whole lot chris, the help is very much appreciated, it was the suction hose that came loose after all, plugged it back and the customer was smiling again, and thanks for all the suggestions fellas.

Wow.....you're welcome, and glad to hear it was an easy fix and you didn't have to buy any new parts for the car!

yea i had no doubts it was a minor problem because the install was straightforward, apparently the hose came loose when re-assembling the dash, the hood cable came loose a few times so i pulled back the dash to fix it, apparently doing this caused the hose to come loose, and i didn't notice, so, thanks again.

Is that the hood cable that clips in rather than the two screws?  It's a mustard and I've been there.  I've been lucky with the AC sensor hose, it's always come apart on me so I know to watch out for it when I reassemble.

yup that's the cable howie, it seems that the guys at toyota just love to design fragile parts.

They had the slot-in and 2 screw system for years, worked fine then I noticed they changed it on recent IS Models, we haven't had Camry or Maxima over here for about 5 years, (killed by BMW/M/Benz and Audi) but I assume the Camry has the same clip-in design.

I have resorted to removing the cable in the newer toyotas.

All the ones i have tried to remove using the clip seem to snap when i try and remove them.
