Howdy, I recently installed a remote start on the above car, and can't figure out why it won't remote start all the time. There are 4 wires going to the clutch switch, I've tried jumpers on both. This worked for two weeks then suddenly, it didn't work anymore. Currently the jumpers are still in place but won't remote start. How can I get this to work?

First of a few questions:

Do you hear the motor cranking?

Try sitting in the car with your foot on the clutch, now try your remote start.

What type of alarm is it?  if your using the sidewinder 5000esp do you have the BLACK/ white wire grounded?

Have tyou tested the wires to see if there is still 12 volts going to the clutch activation wire ?

Remote start is working fine when you press the clutch in. It's a DEI 552T. I never got a 12 volt reading on either of the blue wires, and I assumed the blacks were ground. Still stuck like chuck on this one.

How did you attach the wire from the RS to the clutch ? Solder or a connector ?

try cutting one of the wires and try the remote start, if that doesnt work reconnect that wire and do the same on the other wires.  once the romote starts then you know which one to hook the relay into to break that connection.

you can not allways assume black wires are ground in cars...  VW and BMW use brown wires or most grounds.

p.s. when your testing for 12 volts or ground are you pressing the clutch down?  if not press the clutch down all the way and then test the wires again.

I always solder, I will have the car again on Friday, I'll try some of the stuff you all have suggested.

Call me crazy, but it sounds like just a simple matter of a relay
