automatic lock with ignition

Last week I installed a Viper 5901 in my 2007 Toyota Tacoma. All connections are soldering and everything is working well except one small quirk. I have the alarm programmed to lock the doors when the driver puts the key in the ignition. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. I almost always remote start the truck before I get in so I'm not sure how well it works (or doesn't) otherwise. Any ideas on why it would lock the doors sometimes and not others? The lock wire has a good connection and always locks when the alarm is armed. It just sometimes locks after doing a takeover of remote start.

I wonder if your door contact  (green on the Viper) should go to the domelight rather than the individual door contact or vice versa, just a guess.

Yea that was my first thought that the they won't lock if they see an open trigger so you don't lock yourself out...

Makes sense.... I'll check it out. If anything, I'll isolate the dome light.

I just remembered something from early-mid 90s Toyotas, they wouldn't lock if the key was in the ignition. How about the keysense wire, secondly, on the early models as above, they had a separate locking module under the dash, there was a door contact wire going in, which stopped the lock side working, you just cut and grounded it  so it thought the door was open otherwise you had no autolock.

The delayed domelight should only take maybe one or two seconds to turn out when the ignition is on and the door is closed.

Try turning on the ignition only after the domelight has turned out, and see if that fixes it.

Also, when the remote start is on, it really doesn't matter when you put the key in the ignition and turn it on......what matters is when you step on the brake.

So, during remote start takeover, you coult really turn that key on just as fast as you want, but don't hit the brake until the domelight is fully out.
