I have a 2005 Dodge Neon SxT and I know that the door has the single wire. I've looked at forums and other places and know that it requires me to use a 2700 and 7500 ohm resistor because it has a factory alarm to use the remote key unlock and lock. I have looked all over and have had the hardest time finding a place that carries the 7500 ohm resistor. I'm wondering if anybody knows of an easier way to maybe bypass the factory alarm and if it's possible to use the 250 ohm and 1000 ohm resistors instead and possibly hook up the wiring from the door itself instead of off the factory alarm and that work? Please any help at all would be greatly appreciated

Open the switch inside the driver's door then using a DMM measure the resistance from the centre contact to the lock and unlock contacts, that will give you your answers. I find those values extremely high. The way to get the required values is to daisy chain lower values and add them up.

those resistor values shouldnt be too hard to find. they most likely wont say 2700 or 7500, they will say 2.7k and 7.5k. also, like Howie said, you can put smaller values together end to end until you get the value that you want/need.

If you use the 250 and 1000-ohm values, the doors will lock and unlock, but your factory alarm won't arm or disarm with the aftermarket remote.

Not only would you lose the benefit of your factory alarm, but if you arm it, and then unlock with the aftermarket remote, the alarm will go off.

Like the others said, you can string together smaller resistors (in series) or put two bigger resistors side by side (parallel) to get the desired value.

Also, those cars aren't that fussy about the resistor value. I'll bet if you ended up with 6500 or 8500 or whatever, it'd probably still work anyway.
