Looking for some basic information of the wiring diagram for the spark plug configuration.  I have a Jetta that runs poorly durring wet or damp weather.  It has the 4 cylinder 2.0 engine.  I do not see a distributor in there anywhere so want to understand what the plug wires hook into?  Little black box on the side of the engine I assume is part of the electronic ignition.

Yes,  had a visit with the local VW dealer at lunch and found out it is the coil pack as well.  To replace is $342.08.  To replace plug wires could be $211.00 depending on engine code.

How do I tell if I have an AEG, AZG, or AVH engine?

I now know I have a 2001 GL AVH engine.

Cheers,
