Just wondering if anyone has put a remote start on a 1994 Ford Tempo and would be able to help me out? A little bit about the project and my ability: A friend of the family bought a 1994 Tempo for his twin 16 yr old duaghters. He want them to have an alarm/remote start/keyless unit and while talking to my dad, he(my dad) opens his mouth and volunteers me to do it. I was MECP Silver (Advanced) certified 9 years ago...but it's been about 4 years since getting under a dash to do an alarm or remote start. I do not have the resources I did back in the day to know what is needed for the install...I don't think they have purchased a unit yet, any budget pieces to look at? I just want to be prepared as possible because I am going to my parents 800 miles away to do this in 3 weeks and want to have the ducks in a row...
Also:
- What by-pass (if any) is needed?
- Anything to watch out for or to be concerned with on this car?
Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!

lets see, old ford, probably wont need a bypass at all. the locks are either straight positive, reverse polarity, or 5 wire.
the key cylinder and ignition harness should be pretty straight forward for a ford, meaning multiple 12v constant wires, 2 ignitions, 1 accessory, and 1 starter wire.
i couldn't tell you the wire colors though but it should be easy enough just to test for them. you can go to techservices.audiovox.com and sign up for a free account and you will have access to wiring sheets BUT still test and verify EVERY wire because audiovox isn't that great with being completely right. i recently did a nissan titan using audiovox as a reference and the entire ignition harness was mislabeled so be careful and use it only as a starting point.

94 Tempo...needs just the basic stuff, nothing complicated. Wiring cheat sheet can be found
here. Door lock wiring diagram is found
here. No bypasses, modules, or anything...just the remote starter/alarm system and some additional relays. If you have any questions during the installation just post them back to the forum.

Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.
