Hey all,

Im having a time with my Viper 160 XVL in a 1994 Altima. Ive installed everything into my own car. I cannot get the system to respond to valet mode. The LED just stays on all of the time no matter what I do.

Everything works just fine though, remote start, lghts and locks just like its supposed to. But because I cant access programming I cant customize it.

Ive looked over all of my wiring and the only thing I fudged was the neutral/park switch wire which I just grounded because I didnt want to rip the whole gear selector and cover apart. The car has a brake gear lock anyway. Also does it matter that I dodnt jook up the third pink wire on the remote start harness to 12v+? It says its optional if more power is needed.

Ive even changed the brain out thinking it was fried, but it does the same thing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've seen a bad valet switch on one DEI system, stuck always in the "on" position.

Also, if you were to accidentally short out the gray wire going to the valet switch to ground, that would do the same thing. (Putting a screw through the wire, jamming the wire under a panel, or anything like that.)

I would unplug the two-pin blue plug for the valet switch from the brain, and try again.

sounds strange, the only pink wire on dei's xcrs is for an ignition input/output, are you positive you have this connected to a true ignition wire, when you turn on ignition does the led turn off, if not then your ignition is not connected, i noticed you said your remote start works fine but just to be sure, also to access programming your door trigger has to be connected,(or ground the green wire of the primary harness if you have 12volts switched door triggers) but even if it weren't connected it should still toggle in and out of valet mode. if another brain gives the same response the maybe it is a bad valet switch. if that's the case, well post back maybe we colud help you find another means to program.
