I just installed an old audiovox aps 785 alarm/start combo in a '97 saturn sl2. it still works great, a little hard to program the installers options but I've used worse. The problem is that the oem shock sensor causes the alarm to go off when it's armed during remote start.Oh, I ordered 2 new transmitters for it, how many can I program to it and how do you program them?

1. The search feature will find you the information on how to program the remotes.

2. Most of the plugs on the two-way are the same, but not all.

Not only is the antenna different, but so is the cable, so you'd have to re-run the antenna cable.

The plugs for the main ignition wires, shock sensor, valet switch, LED, doorlocks, and remote-start control switch are all the same.

They're located at slightly different places on the new brain, but they'll all plug in.

The harness that has the brake, parking lights, door trigger, trunk trigger, trunk release, starter kill, ground, and so forth......that one's different.

Whether you want to cut and re-splice the wires right at the brain, or disconnect all those wires from the car and re-connect the new harness, is up to you.

thank you, but do you know why the alarm goes off when it's remote started?

If the shock sensor is external,  run a relay off the armed whilst starting wire and connect your shock sensor trigger across the NC relay contacts, 87a and 30,  that will do the trick.  Sorry do you mean GM factory installed shock sensor or Audiovox unit but then if you can find the OEM same rules apply or disarm factory alarm whilst remote starting.

I meant the shock sensor that came with the alarm, it plugs into the brain, and yet, no shunt when remote started. So I took your advice and relay isolated the trigger wire with 3rd ignition out, works fine now, thank you, but it will still go off if I turn the remote starter off.

I used to have an old dei 550hf, I put that in like, 8 different cars and never had this much trouble. Ironically, where I work, I do put quite a few aps 45bs in. But our starters and alarms are omega, which is crap, I know, but I have become very familiar with that flavor of crap.
