How about using a single zone perimeter sensor that will allow the vehicle to start with a pass of the hand over the sensor? The trigger only has to be long enough that it will allow the owner to start the vehicle and after, it will be normally open.

if hes willing to give up his cigarette lighter turn it into a kill, if its not pushed in like a lighter car wont start, he can take lighter with him when he leaves no thief carries around a cigarette lighter(it will no longer work as a power outlet for the lighter or anything else)

you would use a relay, cut the starter wire and run
key side - pin 87
starter motor side to pin 30
cut the power lead to cig lighter and run
power side to pin 86
center pin of cig lighter to
pin 85
what happens with a cig lighter is when you push it in as if to light it the center pin of lighter sends ground meeting the 12volts to heat the coil
so when lighter is pulled relay is closed(pin 87a to pin 30_ starter wire is not connected
when pushing lighter in pin 85 gets ground, opening relay so pins 87 and 30 make contact reconnecting starter wire
since power feed is no longer connected to lighter this is why it no longer works as a lighter or power source

Yes, if you know where to wave the hand.

You have to set the sensor low and have it hidden. Under the driver's seat, in the glove box, center top of dash by the windshield..... It would not be any different if you use the cigarette lighter or any other disable technique, if the thief finds the bypass, it will be enabled.

the big advantage to the cig lighter is A) customer can take lighter with him putting it in his pocket like a keyfob, ( i dont know of too many people let alone thieves that carry a socket style cigarette lighter with them)
B)even if lighter is left in the car not something many people would think to engage to try to start car(plus car has chipped key and unlike chryslers i havent seen too many ford keys defeated)

the coolest thing would be a pressure switch maybe under the carpet maybe behind a dash panel. my wife has the 06 fusion and theres a perfect place to cut and glass one in next to the dimmer switch. done right that should look cool just make sure no matter what you do theres some kind of back up switch. just as a side note/question it has the transponder why put a starter kill on it other than just to say it has a starter kill ? you have to have the key/ transponder to start it

did she have 1 key stolen and still has 1 but refuses to buy a new one?
if she buys a relacement key the dealer will program it thereby deleting the key she lost
hell she wouldnt even have to get one with the keyless entry built in, she could just use a ford jewel key like the other fords without keyfob built in use
