Hi folks, my son installed a prostart ct3200 in his 98 s10 v6. got home to him very frustrated. couldn't get programed don't know how many attempts. now have remote programed but truck won't start by remote but will work ok in "pit stop" mode. He missed the second ignition wire, rectified, but when given the remote start command truck will turn over but won't start. tried the reset bit in the manual but won't reset. any suggestions?
thanks in advance
john

must be already there. correct me if i'm wrong but if he has a hardware cut key and it works the passlock is bypassed. he just bought this rig a week ago.

Nope, not on passlock II....the resistor is inside the key cylinder, so any common cut key will work. He will need to bypass the passlock II to make it start. You can buy a bypass module, but there is a diagram somewhere here, that will tell you how to do it with a couple of relays and some resistors....which is the way i prefer on the older GM stuff. I'll look for it

you need a module to bypass the passlock 2 that vehicle needs a module called plxr from xpresskit there are wires comming from ignition cylinder that the module connects to .do you notice a security light on your dash,when you turn the key on to acc

 here is the way mikvot is talking about hope this helps PASSLOCK-II bypass procedure
There are 2 types of Passlock-II systems. To determine which system you have, follow these instructions;
1: Locate two wires, which are THIN and are in the main ignition harness.. ORANGE / Black (or Black) and Yellow. 2: Cut the Yellow wire, and strip back some of the insulation from the ORANGE / Black (Or Black) wires. 3: Turn the ignition to the "Run" position ( don't crank the starter). Measure and record the value measured from the KEY SIDE of the Yellow wire, to the BLACK/ Orange wire. 4: Turn the key to the "Crank" position and release. Now read the value again. 5: If the value changed, follow "Method#1". If the value stayed the same, follow "Method#2".

Thanks a million guys, one thing, why would the truck run in pit stop mode if there is a security feature. I pulled the key out of the ignition, or at least I think i did.

When you start the car with the key it sees the resistance in the key cylinder. After it's started and you do the pit stop you can pull the key out because the car only needs to see the resistance on crank. If you just put the key in the key cylinder and tried remote starting it should work if you have everything hooked up correctly.

did you turn the key to the run postion and start the car with the remote start,or did you start the car with key then go to pitstop mode .you just bypassed the passlock2 by having the key in the ignition.it will run after you do that
