I'm hoping someone can help me find the neutral safety signal on a 2006 Jeep Wrangler with Automatic Trans. I found an earlier post that says that it is a brown with light blue wire and is found at the "gear selector switch".

I can't find that darned BROWN / blue wire anywhere. There is no switch at the gear selector and the MOPAR parts catalog doesn't show anything called a "gear selector switch". I have even climbed underneath and was unable to find any BROWN / blue wires attached to the trans. Does anyone know where to find this signal?

For background... I have added aftermarket power door locks to the Jeep and they are currently set to auto lock based on RPM and auto unlock when the ignition is turned off via a Skytek RS5000. I have been asked to have the doors unlock when the the trans is shifted to PARK and need the Neutral Safety signal in order to do that.

you can try to use a magnetic switch to activate the door lock and unlock make your own neutral safety switch

set it up so when the doodieer is in the park position it makes contact with one sensor and sends a negative signal to unlock and when its in drive it will make contact with another switch and send a signal to lock the doors

That is my backup plan. Once I find out where the best plave to get yhe neutral safety signal I'll decide if the magnetic switch is the better solution.

I happen to have a few magnetic switches on hand. I use them in place of the pin switch at the hood. I have seen too many pin switches rust out and fail to make contact when the hood is open. It would be interesting to see just how many remote start systems are out there without a functional hood switch.

Thanks for the response. I'm glad to hear you suggest adding a switch. Now if I end up doing it that way and it ends up being a bad idea, I'll have someone besides myself to blame. :-)
