I recently installed a prestige 996 RS into the nissan.  It worked for about two weeks and then one day it just quit.  The transmitters would not connect with the module.  The unit itself was still functioning when you opened the door the alarm would go off but the transmitters wouldn't disarm the system or do any functions at all.  Thinking the brain was bad I replaced it with a brand new prestige 997a and rewired every connection.  Once hooked up I was able to get the locks to cycle once with the transmitter and then the same problem occured.  Neither of the transmitters function again.

Has nayone seen this problem before and might know a fix.  I'm completely baffled.  I have changed the location of the ground.  Everything is wired per the wiring diagram on the web page and the only extra connections I've made are the addition of relay to power the trunk release and a relay for the 2nd starter, and I wired one of the channels to activate the defroster.

Any ideas?

You say you swapped the system out, did you happen to swap the antenna too? I do not recall where I read it, but I remember an article that discussed Audiovox having a batch of bad ones. Simply swapping the antenna should fix it.

They did have a batch of bad one-way antennas, with a bulletin at techservices.audiovox.com. Not sure if the two-way antennas were part of that.

Regardless, the system won't work at all without the antenna.

Check/replace the antenna, as well as the antenna cable. The cable might have been pinched under a piece of the car during installation, or could simply have a faulty crimp at the connector on either end.
