I have got a cobra 7928 alarm / immobiliser and want to fit it to my wifes W124 Mercedes 1990 E230, it says in the instruction sheet it is capable of operating the total closure of a car. The car already has this function built in by means of holding the key in the locked position until all the windows and sunroof have closed, does anyone know where I can connect in to the existing total closure facility and hot to connect it into the central locking system. The wiring diagram for the cobra 7928 can be found here.

Thanks.
Steve.

It appears as though that vehicle was not sold stateside.   If you can find alarm info for the door locks, I am pretty sure that an extended pulse on the door lock wire of the vehicle will do what you are trying.   Maybe Howie can help you with a wire color and location.  If he still remembers.

Brown wire of cobra to yellow /navy blue in a three core loom with a RED / white and brown  wires with a rubbery sleeving in the driver's floor loom. Actually the Cobra is quite primitive and what you will have to do is feed the brown, which is a neg armed output to a timer such as the DEI 528t. This is because that yellow/blue (it might be yellow/black) is independant of the locking system and starts working AFTER the locks have been actuated.

Thanks for this, the cobra instructions say that the window output can be programmed to 24 second or to be operated by the length of time that the big button is held down, will this work? Also what do you think the best way of interfacing the cobra in to the vehicle to operate the locking is, do I need any additional relays and where should I connect it into, any information would be very helpful.
Thanks,
Stveve.

If you  can programme the BROWN wire fine, join it straight to theyellow/blue or black. This has nothing today with the lock timing which incidentally should be set to 3 secs (Cobras don't want to unlock those M/Benz in less than that time).  Programming that unit was a  PITA which is why I suggested leaving the brown as is and connecting the 528t. That's how I usually do it. I love the basic 3193/8 Cobras, but that unit is primitive and horrible next to the Clifford 650 equivalent which has a variable timed output (you actually need about) 15secs built in. No relays required.

If I got a 528T would that control the locking and also operate the total closure system aswell or would i need 2. Next question is how do I connect the cobra to the 528T and then the 528T to the car, has anyone got a wiring diagram.

Are you actually reading my posts?  The lock and closing system are separate animals, the closure system won't work until the doors are shut. Lock sytem is left completely alone, use the alarm's brown wire to feed the BLACK/ white wire on the 528t.   Black and red on the 528t to neg and pos, brown to neg and yellow to correct close wire, orange not used. Set device for 2 secs longer than it takes to close windows (and roof if it's in the system).  Let me add I've done this many times with various Cobras on M/Benz (and BMW/Jaguar/VW/Vauxhall) and it has never failed.

Thanks,
Sorry I was getting realy confused with the two. I can now visualise how the closing part will work, but am still unsure about the locking. In the cobra instructions it says that there are four differnt types of wiring options for interface it with the locking which are as follows. 1) Vehicle without an existing drivers mdoor motor. 2) Direct motor control. 3) Vehicle with negative command door locking. 4) Vehicle with positive command door locking. I am unsure which configuration to use and for programming the time CDL Lock pulse time on Violet wire of cobra the options are either 1 second, 24 second or controlled by large remote button. So if it needs 2 seconds then I presume that I have to set it 24 seconds, would this be ok for it to continue for this amount of time ? Sorry for all the questions, but I am getting realy confused.

None of the above posted_image Actually it's the MBZ/Audi vacuum and ring 01932331 asking them how to configue that alarm for the system used on that car.
