I had a 562T remote start installed in a 2001 Chevrolet S10 pickup a while back. All was fine until it quit working. I took it back to the installer and they repaired it under warranty. I think he said the bypass box was bad.The problem now is that the dome lights stay on too long after using the key fob to start or unlock the truck. I leave my house each morning in the dark and I need to sit in my driveway for about a minute until the dome light turns off. It was not this way before and it would turn off as soon as the ignition was turned on. The shop has all new "kids" working there and looked at it but they have no idea why it is happening. Is this a programing issue or what? I would like to fix it or know what to tell the shop to do. Any ideas?

i would find out what type (brand, model, etc) of bypass module was used.....  some older modules (457G for example) used to turn on the domelight and door sensors to shut down RAP.....

if this occurs without even using the R/S then i doubt it has anything to do with the bypass module used....

You are hitting the brake, right?

The remote start does have a domelight supervision feature, that's designed to turn on the domelight when you unlock, so you can see what you're doing when you get in.

But, if you remote start the engine, then get in, turn the key to Run, and hit the brake, the light is supposed to go out right away.

If I remote start the engine, turn the key to run and hit the brake the dome light still stays on for a certain amout of time. It happens even if I don't remote start the truck and just use the Valet remote key fob to unlock the doors. Its not the biggest problem in the world but backing down a long dark driveway with the dome light on kind of sucks. It was not this way when it was first installed. The shop that installed it was no help and I don't want it to just be this way forever.

Well, if they're not of any help, it might be time to talk to their manager or owner and insist that they look at it further.

These are just guesses, but I can think of two things right away:

1. It's very easy on those Blazers to accidentally push the rear hatch release on the dashboard and then forget about it. Go out back, make sure you can't lift up the hatch window....if you can, close it firmly.

2. Open the driver's door, and on the side of the driver's dash, just below the fusebox cover, you'll see a pinswitch there.

The pinswitch is mounted in a poor location, and receives a lot of sideways pressure every time you close the door. It always looked to me like a part waiting to break.

I think maybe you can pop that switch right out, or at the very least, it's not very hard to get behind it. Unplug it and see if the domelight stops staying on.

This is not on an S10 Blazer. It is a 2001 S10 Crew Cab 4 door Pickup. The door switch does not have anything to do with it because the doom light only acts this way after using the Valet remote. I just timed it and it comes on and stays on for 45 seconds every time you use the remote whether it is to lock, unlock,or start the truck. You can start it remotely, put the key in, turn to run, push the brake, put it in gear and drive away and the doom light still stays on for 45 seconds.45 seconds seems like a long time when your sitting there waiting for it to turn off.

I was wrong about something that I said. The dome light does not come on when you lock or start the truck with the remote. It only come on when you unlock it with the Valet remote.Does that information help anyone figure out what is the deal with this thing.

turn off or disconnect the domelight supervision from the 562t and you'll be golden.

Well I just disconnected the wire from the remote start for the dome light supervision. I guess I'll call it "fixed". I don't need to worry about the dome light stating on because it does not even come on at all now when you unlock the truck with the Valet remote. It should come on when you unlock it like it did before and then not stay on but maybe I expect to much.Another half-arse professional job. No wonder I try to do everything myself.
