I'm trying to set up an unconventional way of starting my car, but I can't find a diagram for the harness anywhere, and I'm not about to start hooking switches and relays up to wires that I don't know what they do. I have looked all over online, and I can't find anything, not even in a 2038 page service manual.
Specs:
Year: 2001
Make: Daewoo
Model: Lanos
Trans: Manual
Engine: 1.5L in line 4 cylinder
I need to know where each wire in the ignition switch harness goes.
Wires are listed left to right, top row first, bottom row second on a 6 wire ignition switch harness.
1: Thinner red (possibly pink) wire
2: RED / BLK
3: ORANGE
4: BROWN
5: RED / WHT
6: Thicker red (possibly pink) wire
bonus points if you can tell me which wires are involved on each "key" position.

your specific vehicle isn't a very common one, so maybe using a meter and doing a little testing would be your best bet here, database on this site goes up to 1999, you could probably check it and see if any of the wires correspond, but you'll still have to test, if i may ask what are you trying to rig up to start the car? i know this post won't get me any bonus points, but, what the heck . ------------- COMMIT YOUR WAY TO JEHOVAH AND HE WILL ACT IN YOUR BEHALF.

wow! seriously? you would go through all this work of trying to find out rather than just get out your DMM and test the wires yourself to see what they are? even if someone posted the colors and function you still have to test the wires anyway. so why not get your DMM, get under the dash and start testing?

:/
I don't have a meter.
And I'm trying to make toggle switches (i have a bin of all sorts of spst's, spdt's, relays, etc) to complete the circuits that the different key positions would normally complete.
And please don't suggest some other method of starting my car. I have the materials and tools I need to do it this way. And I don't have any money. And I would like to have a car that I can start.

hehe, i guess i came off sounding jerkey huh? but seriously, the time it would take to test them and just find out might take all of five minutes maybe if that. and besides even if the info is just handed to you, you still gotta test them anyway, so i just didnt get it.

obviously you don't have the tools you need to get it done, you'll need to get a meter, and if you don't want suggestions, why ask for help. ------------- COMMIT YOUR WAY TO JEHOVAH AND HE WILL ACT IN YOUR BEHALF.

agree with t&t, even just a cheap $20 chinese meter is gonna be needed. so....is this because you already have all these materials but wont be able to buy a new ignition switch? your still gonna use the key in the lock cylinder to be able to unlock the steering wheel lock right? you should definitely leave that since with simple switches anybody could just break in and start it. add a ghost switch as well just to be safe.

I don't understand why I need to test anything...
Well... from a "don't do anything retarded that will destroy your car standpoint" I can see why I need to test something.
But if someone just hands me the information, and I hook everything up the way I'm planning on hooking it up, either it will work or... Well... I spose worst case scenario would be screwing something up and not only needing to go replace my ignition switch (which if I can't figure anything out, is the next most inexpensive option), and a couple of fuses
But either way, I have no meter, I have no testing implement.

and my car was stolen, had the entire lock cylinder drilled out to unlock the column, and the ignition switch was used to start the car.
I recovered the car by happenstance.
The ignition switch broke, and I'm really interested in finding a way to start my car without having to fork up any cash...

Looks like the wire colors you posted don't match the ones listed above. A meter is only $10 bucks at RadioShack right now till tomorrow, looks like you night have to do some testing. https://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productid=2999093 I was also thinking, if the switches you already have can handle the current of the ignition system......

Really? You're serious? Someone actually stole a Daewoo? What? This isn't Bobby Lee from MAD tv, is it? Seriously, i would definately use a meter, that's one of the few brands that I would not trust any tech info on, just because they will use any color wire available. -------------
