No need to reset it, just reprogram it.

well when i disconnect the harness and plug it in it goes solid so i turn the key and it flashed 4 times. thats it. no more flashes. so i press the button the # of times i need for type 2 and it doesn't do anything. so i than hold the button and it goes into option programing.

The instructions have a reset procedure.

There are two separate parts to the programming of it...........one is where you set it for what kind of car, and the second part is where you set the features.

For example, I think the first thing in the menu is driver's-priority unlocking on or off.

Further down the list, I think it's feature 7 or 8, is a selection to reset the unit to let you pick what kind of car you have.

You may notice that to program these features, it has you press the Lock or Unlock buttons from your remote starter............therefore, before doing this, the remote starter needs to be fully installed, with functioning doorlock outputs to trigger the XK01.

Sorry if I gave bad info, I had no idea that they were end user programmable.  We use the computer to program them.  There is no reset that I am aware of when flashing on the computer.

i am an idiot,

I think we're talking about two different things.....not sure if I'm using the right words, but:

1. Let's say you hooked the module up to your computer, and you flash the firmware so it'll do a Hyundai Entourage............but then the customer with the Entourage cancels so now you want to use the same XK01 for a Honda Accord........yes, you'd hook it back up to the computer and reflash it.

2. But on the other hand, let's say you really ARE working on the Entourage as planned.......you try to set it for driver's-priority unlock but you mess up, and you forget now if it's on or off anymore.

In that case, there's another selection in there that brings the module back to the way it was when you began the install.

Thanks for the info, I have never used one of those units.  I have flashed several of them.  But I was unaware of any feature programming.

Many of the XK modules can be reset by using the following sequence:

Press & hold programming button while plugging in 10-pin harness.
When LED turns on, release button.
When LED turns off, reset is complete. Some rapidly flash when reset is complete.

I have never performed this procedure on an XK01 but it is worth a try.

If anyone is curious.....

https://xpressdownload.com/getdocument.aspx?documentid=1055

Go to Page 6, and look at Mode 8.

When you put Mode 8 to Option 2, it goes back to the beginning.............back to the part where you have to tell it if you have an Impala, or Trailblazer, or whatever.
