Hi all -
I have a Viper 690XV that was installed by Circuit City about 5 years ago. I broke the 2-way remote a while back and got a 1-way replacement (FCC ID: EZSDEI472). I recently got my hands on a new 2-way remote, FCC ID: EZSDEI478, which I wish to program.
I am trying to program the remote as instructed by the manual, however I am not getting a tone or LED flash that the system has entered programming mode. I know the Valet button is working because I can enter Valet mode and see the Long Term Event History. The alarm system appears to be working fine using the 1-way remote. I can Arm and Disarm the system, and the siren, the lights, and LED's work as well.
I feel as if I am locked out of programming mode, however, the manual states that if I was locked out, I would get one long chirp when attempting to enter programming mode.
If anyone has any ideas as to what could be the problem, it would be greatly apperciated. Thanks.
For what it is worth, the car is 1998 Jeep Wrangler SE.
your door trigger wire, and the ignition wire has to be connected and functional, in order to enter programming, are you doing it with a door opened?

I am positive the door trigger wire is connected. As for the ignition wire, I think it is connected as the system recognizes when I hold down the valet button and turn on the car then press the button again to view the last zone that was tripped.
I read somewhere that there could be a jumper on the unit to lock the system from being programmed. But I don't think that this is the case. I am absolutely stumped. I have tried doing this with both doors open to see if that did anything, which it didn't.
the negative door trigger just to make it clear, the positive door trigger doesn't allow the same, so if that's the case, you may need to ground the green wire of the unit.

You got it t&t, the green wire wasn't grounded. As soon as I grounded it and entered programming mode I had absolutely no issues entering programming mode.
I do now have an issue with the remote not receiving data from the car. The remote will arm and disarm but I will not get an acknowledgment response on the remote to let me know that the car is locked (the remote displays the unlocked icon).
Any ideas on how to get the 2-way communication to work? Thanks again for your help. You have been very helpful.
