i have a g4 c600 the socket on the side came apart and has burned an internal resistor , my clifford approved installer has been requesting a tech diagram for over a month from armour automotive the uk clifford folk can anyone suggest who can assist , idealy a email for clifford themselves ? im getting very frustrated now its the socket where you plug in the laptop into it [IMG]https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/pigbladder/burntclifford.jpg[/IMG]

cstuart@armourauto.co.uk unfortunately he's wearing two hats as the tech manager and the repair man. Also that socket also feeds data to the battery-back-up siren. PM me on Sunday afternoon, I've a spare 300, I'll open it up and if you tell me what resistor, I'll measure it. N.B. Your "approved installer" should be able to do this himself.

Unfortunately the 300 board is different, looking at the same view as your photo, left to right, pin 1 is fed by a surface mount capacitor, pin2 by a surface mount R12 at 12ohms, pin 3 by a power line (12volts) with a standard 1N4004 diode, band towards pin and a normal resistor which measures 100 ohms, half watt current capacity, that should be the one, fed from qa surface mount transistor, Q19.

When you say it is the plug that connects it to the laptop, Is it a USB connector? Did this damage occur when you plugged it into the laptop? Can you follow the traces and tell me where they go on your unit? like Howie did on his.

Craig, it's not a USB, it sends power, ground, ignition charging and data triggering to the battery back Sirens. It also feeds the Clifford Wiz programming, something I try not to let the public get their hands on, it takes practise to do it right. N.B.Acetone is nail polish remover, meths will also do it. I've never seen this happen unless something's wired incorrectly. Clifford G4 was made far better than anything else, apart from bad wiring they were almost indestructable.

And where did that come from??? I am guessing that the resistor is probably some kind of protection for the output to the backup siren. If he can follow the traces and let me know what the resistor connects to we can probably figure out an acceptable value for a replacement. A description of what caused it will help also. If you do know when it happened.

the 3 pin socket that plugs into the brain had the pins come loose , one or more of the wires touched and causd this the alarm still works , but wont work on the wizzard cable to the laptop...unsure if the siren is charging but im getting no beeps to suggest its flat what exactly would you want me to trace ? howie has posted a value that he found in a c300 unit , although a second opinion wont hurt

I got your mail and am very impressed with the circuit board. It is a very expensive process to manufacture such a board. It is known as a dual layer circuit board. There are traces on 3 different areas of the board. A single sided board has traces only on one side of the board. A dual sided board has traces on top and bottom. A dual layer board has traces on top, bottom and in between the 2 layers. On pic 600paint you can see a slight black line coming from the point where you think the trace ends. If I remember correctly it travels directly west from that point. If you hold the board up with a lamp bulb behind it, you can see the traces inside the board.
Yes it appears that the resistor is a 1/4 watt resistor. I am going to re-read your mail and try to figure out a value for you.
I need you to check the diode very near the resistor. We need to see if it is shorted.
