Subject: alarm, odom light not working

I have a Ultrastart 2280 alram/remote start. I had the alarm side working. Never got to the remote side of it. But the alarm was working. Then all of a sudden the alarm stopped working. and I noticed that the odom. light was dim. Checked wire connection and could not find anything wrong. A few days latter the odom. light started working but the alarm still does not. The alarm will not churp ( no power coming out of alarm module) and if any sensors are trigured will not go off. Can not reset alarm. It will lock and unlock doors as if the alarm is set. Also, no power to the lights. When it is set the lights flash once along with horn. 2000 Chevy Impala LS Thanks For your Help

See if the alarm is in valet mode, also odometer light unlikely to be a related problem, depending on where your light output was taken to, or a wiring error

I thought that but I can not get the alarm to reset. The horn will not sound and the lights will not blink as they should. I do not have power coming out of the horn wire from the alarm to horn when trying to arm, but the doors lock and the indicator light turns on. The lights are wired to the brow/white wire behind the dimmer switch. All other lights on the dash work as tehy should. Just can not figure out if they are tired in together or two different problems. The two problems happened at the same time..

Does the odometer and the gear indicator also out? Is it a green or blue fluorescent type display?

Yes the Odometer and the gear indicator is out. It is a green fluoresent display. Those two items are the only two that are affected but must be on the same circuit. Was thinking of taking that whole asm out and checking the bulb but do not know if that is a good idea. What you think?

I have never repaired one out of an Impala, I have repaired several Buicks. On the Buicks there are 4 resistors that heat up and lose contact with the circuit board. They are not located anywhere near the indicator. They are located on the far right of the cluster. No idea where they are going to be in your vehicle. If you take the cluster apart and can not find them, take a few pictures and post them here. They are not through hole resistors, they are round surface mount devices. Round resistors soldered to a flat circuit board, I have no idea why they get bad connections. After I resolder them, I use a dab of silicone on each, that way if it does reheat, the silicone will hold it in place. One of the ones I repaired was missing one of the resistors. It works fine with just 3. It was my wifes car. If there was a problem with the missing resistor, she would have pointed it out by now.
