Hey everyone.  I recently bought a 1998 Mazda MPV and it came with an alarm system.  Apparently the alarm was disabled when I got it since only the keyless entry would work.  Just yesterday my brother was playing around with the darn remote and for some reason he got it to chirp when he unlocked and locked the vehicle.  So I guess he enabled the alarm.  Here's the problem.  The vehicle must have some type of starter kill on it as the vehicle won't start anymore.  Not even crank.  He disabled the alarm the way it was before he messed with the buttons....no more chirping just keyless entry but the vehicle STILL refuses to start.  I looked it up and the alarm is an Automate model 435.  I've got their manual but it doesn't have any type of troubleshooting in regards to the starter kill.

Any thoughts?

pull down the driver knee panel and look for a factory wire cut in half with a relay wired in between coming from your ingition switch that should be your starter kill   the starter wire should be BLACK / YELLOW just put the starter wire back together as the alarm doesnt work anyway

thanks for the reply.  the alarm DOES work!  I have the manual so I'm able to disarm and re-arm when I like.  chirping and all.  it's just the starter kill. I just switched batteries and it still didnt crank so it's definitely this starter kill relay thing.  any way to reprogram this relay?

hey chev, I think I found the problem  I did what you told me and pulled down the knee panel.  I see the exact wire you told me to look for.  the starter wire wasn't crimped properly and disconnected itself from the connector.  I'll solder those two connections and i should be good to go.  thanks for your help man :)
