Hey Guys,

I am installing a Viper 160XV Remote Start system into my 2000 Ford F-150. I dont have much knowledge about cars in general but I read a lot of posts here before I gave it a shot at installing it. Anyway, I have read that the best tach wire is to use one of the wires from a fuel injector (any color but red). Now the only question is how the heck do I get my wires from inside the cab through the fire block and into the engine compartment?

On a seperate note, Is the hood pin switch really required? I can't just hook the wire from the unit directly to ground? (i read a post where a guy had an issue with that). in either case, the F-150 doesn't come stock with a hood senser correct? So I'll have to install a hood pin swich to monitor the hood opening.

ok will I just read elsewhere that I wont need to go through the firewall to attach to the fuel injector wires. On the Power train control module (PCM) I can use the WHITE/ Pink wire. The PCM I also just found out lol is the Main computer located behind the driver kick panel (white square unit maybe 4 inches x 4 inches). I was wondering what that thing was...

the pcm is in the engine compartment on the right side use an existing grommet in the fire wall to run the wires through i usually use the odd color wire from any injector for tach i always use a hood pin it keeps your mechanics hands intact

on my 2000 f150 with a 4.2L motor im using the blue/green wire at the main coi for tach working great for 4 years now asianwolf 8000RS system
