Is this a Factory or AFTERMARKET alarm...If it is an aftermarket alarm...There should be a valet switch somewhere in the car...Usually in the drivers kick panel...If you can locate this button....Turn Ignition to the ON position...Press and hold button for about 15 seconds...If there is a L.E.D. ...It should turn on solid...Confirming vehicle is in Valet Mode...turn ignition off and see if L.E.D. remains on... If so Should remedy untill you can get into a shop.

that's a factory system, there will not be a visible over ride for that, as tommy mentioned, you may have to go back to a dealer or a reputable installer to diagnose your problem. tommy dude you joined here since 2004, where u been all this time? good to see you're still stickin to the 12 volts.

"passlock theft deterrent system" is something built into the ignition switch, to make the entire car harder to steal.

It's only to keep the car from being started. It has no effect when the car is broken into.

However, the Ion (or at least most of them) do have a factory installed alarm designed to beep the horn and flash the lights if someone breaks in.

It's also possible someone has installed an aftermarket alarm system in the car too.

What does the remote control look like? How many buttons? Is there a name or phone number printed on it? Is there a red or blue flashing light somewhere on the dashboard?
