I think what howie's trying to say is that you're gonna get all sorts of different answers.  DEI, Compustar, Prestige....there's a lot of good quality products out there, but the product won't make a difference if the installer isn't worth a @#$%.  my suggestion is that you do some research and find one that has all the fearures you're looking for in the price range you've set.  I've worked with DEI and Prestige and they've both been good to me.  If you're gonna be installing it and have experience then you know what you need and what you don't....If not ask us what you'd like and we can recommend you some products.  Good Luck.  I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.

A more rational answer from me would be stick with the leading brands, don't touch anything you've not heard of unless recommended by at least 2 stores you would trust and keep off flea-bay for anything electrical. Last comment if you're installing yourself, it's much harder than you think.

I could only think of xxx rated stuff to respond to about lenght of string...Sooooo will stay out of that...Are you planning on using additional sensors...some brands come w/ ports/wires ready for adding 2nd shock sensors etc...If not planning on any additional steps of security...Use a brand name...At least middle of the road...We mostly use Code Or Auto-page...What kind of car is this going into...I would recommend a unit that has a data port...Will make life a little easier on you/installer.

OK was I being told off for being facetious, so what's new, is there a joke in there apart from the obvious innuendo? Just remember I don't do PC, I'm very impatient and if people don't listen or are too lazy to test things for themselves I can't be arsed.
