Having some starting issues with my car due to my alarm (i'm assuming). Just installed the alarm (Excalibur AL-2000-EDP) on my 87 Mustang LX Coupe w/ AOD back in March and was working flawless until today. Was getting ready to leave and remote started the car to warm it up. Now i had disarm the alarm before remote start. Once the car was started i heard the alarm arm itself well when i was about to leave i forgot to disarm and the car shut off when i open the door. After that the car would turn on and die immediately with the key. The only way the car starts is with remote start but once i release the hand brake (used as a neutral safety switch for remote start) the car dies. Anybody have any ideas what it can be?

1987 mustang, do you have any type of factory immobiliser? when you remote start and takeover with the keys does it stay running? what you could do is locate a meter and start the vehicle with the remote metering with the wires in the ignition harness to verify which is ignition and so forth, after this using the keys start the vehicle and metering the wires again you may be able to tell which wire is dropping out votage causing the shut off.

also you didn't specify whether the vehicle started and then shut off or if the ignition just came on and turned back off.
