Hi all and thanks I need help here with a problem that is ruining my life and has me on edge .:(

My neighbor bought an 07( maybe 08)  toyota camry LE . She parks it in her driveway which is 15 feet from my bedroom window . When she unlocks the car with the remote the horn honks twice loudly . When she locks the car the horn honks once . Unfortunately  this goes on everyday at 7 am and on sunday mprning at 8 am . i work all different hours and even with ear plugs and the windows shut wake up . I am greading the warm weather when i need my windows open .

To make matters worse she is very anal abouit locking the car and does it numerous times a day even in daylight though we are the only 2 houses on a dead end street  and she is running intpo her home for a few minutes..

I spoke to her husband who claims the dealer said this is the only option for that car alarm. . I cannot believe that there is no way to re program the alarm or even use the key in the early hours to prevent this , I look to you for help  /advice      I really appreciate it  Chas6652

TOYOTA - 1-800-622-2033 - Toyota publications, including owner's manuals, repair manuals, and wiring diagrams...  Give them a call, and say your grandmother wants to turn this option Off...Not sure if there is a silent lock/unlock...Give them a buzz tomorrow...!

Have absolutely no idea if this is correct ...I found it on a Toyota Forum...To disable the horn, open the driver side door, turn the key on and then off. Behind the alarm light unit under the dash, above the parking brake, there is a button. click this button 3 times and voila, no more horn!  Think they will let you under there dash...???I guess worst case scenario...(Is it a Hybrid?)...You could always put a Remote Start w/ keyless entry on it for them...posted_image

If she randomly uses the honk feature to confirm that her car doors are locked, do you really think she is going to want to disable the Audible Alert...?

When you say "horn," what exactly?

Toyotas have a little chirping sound when locked and unlocked with the factory remote. And then they also have the regular horn that you could beep with your hand, just like any car.

If it's that little chirping sound, I'm not sure how to deactivate that, but you could try calling a local Toyota dealer, or even look in the car's owner's manual.

However, if it's the car's regular horn, then it probably has some sort of aftermarket alarm installed.....try to find out what brand it is, and we can probably help you turn the sounds off.

I appreciate the help  Its a car horn that honks 2 times to unlock and 1 time to lock My neighbor owns the car and he is a tight wad . all he says is that the dealer said it cannot be changed to be silent , He really could give a care as I am the one who wakes up every morning Guess I am screwed .

If it's a real true car horn, then it's not a factory Toyota issue. The factory Toyota keyless makes an elegant little high-pitched chirping sound.

The next step would be to find out what kind of aftermarket alarm is installed in there. If your neighbor bought the car new, he probably paid extra for it....it shouldn't be too hard to find out what brand it is.

P.S. I don't mind morning people when they're quiet and keep to themselves, but that's ridiculous that they'll have a honking car horn at your window at those early hours of the morning. I think you have every right to sleep in peace.
