Hey All:

I'm putting in a 5701v in my 08 Fusion sometime next week. With the OEM keyless entry system, when you unlock the car, it throws on the headlights (lowbeams) until you start the car, or re-lock the car.

I want to keep this feature with the 5701v and figured that I could just hookup the Domelight output to the headlight wire. Other than having to disable the fade to nothing feature I think this should work just fine. Opinions? Why wouldn't this work?

Thanks!

it will work, i can't remember if the relays for the domelight supervision are built in on that unit, if they are, off you go, if not, then your application would require a relay.

Notice that the polarity of this wire in negative.  If you apply positive voltage to the wire, it will take out the switch.  The switch can be repaired, it is just a pain to take the switch apart and find the burnt trace.

The BLACK/ white domelight output wire on the 5701 provides a (-) output. You can connect it directly to the blue/white headlight wire of the car. If the headlight wire of the car is high current (unlikely) you will need to use a relay to boost the output.

Yeah, that sounds like a plan! I don't think it is high current. If I remember correctly I think is 16 AGU.

Thanks for the input!
