I want to fit this alarm to my BMW 3 series 1995.

Will this alarm match with my car OK?

Is there anything I should be aware of before buying?

Are there any problems with the Viper 560XV that I should be aware of before buying?

I have sold some of my stuff so I can afford the best alarm I can find for my money. I have managed to get £150 to spend and I intend on fitting the alarm myself.

I have had some great advice from this forum and I understand that you get what you pay for.

Thanks for any help.

this is DEI previous generation one-way alarm/RS, trouble-free system. remote is small, clean, and durable.

$150 is what I paid for 560xv 4-5yrs ago. you should be able to get it much cheaper now. check for it on the popular online auction.

An alarm is only as good as the installation - have you previously installed an alarm system?

No I haven't. But once I've been given instructions I should be fine. I am good with a solder iron and never connect anything that I'm not sure about. It will cost more money that I have to spend so I have no choice but to fit it myself. Any advice is very welcome.

Do they still make that BMW alarm interface plug that plugged into the factory plug behind the glovebox?   That gave you power/ign/locks and I think lights too.  Made those cars really easy.

I have just been told that I need to fit a MTM1 manual transmission module. Do I need to fit this?

I did a search on the BMW alarm interface connector and can't find one. Very good idea though.

Just an update. They wanted an extra £45 for the MTM1. That with the price of the alarm and the bypass module puts it out of my price range yet again.

I have ordered the Viper 1002 and it should be here on Monday. Just hope I've made the right choice.

There are so many to chose from out there is very confusing.

Thanks

The  1002 is a great unit.

TRY and find that alarm plug, it makes the install MUCH easier.  I'll get you the old DEI part#

I did a search and can't seem to find one. If you can get hold of the part number that would be great.

DEI part no. 8360

They dont sell that anymore, I forgot to mention.  You'll have to try and find a distributor, shop  or individual who still has some.  It would be worth the looking though.  I've used them alot in the past like I said, really nice.
