I have a 2000 Ford Explorer and im installing a ready remote remote start. I have found almost all the wires except the factory alarm disarm wire which is supposedly in a 4 pin connector in the drivers kickpanel. I have looked through all the wires in ther bunle that i have found and there is no grenn wire with purple stripe. even the ones that look kind of similar are the ones. Can sompne post a picture of the wire?

Also should i solder the wires or is t ok to use T-taps, quick connects?

Have you tested to make sure your explorer even has a factory alarm?

well i just locked all my doors and rolled the window down..i waited a min and opened from inside and no alarm went off. Does that mean that anyone can just break into my car and no one will know?

well on my key fob there is a red button for the alarm. When i push it the horn alarm goes off. So i guess that means i have an alarm, but where is the wire?

The red button is the panic button. That does not mean it has an alarm. You tested for it the correct way. Shut all doors, lock with the factory transmitter. Wait about 30 seconds, and open a door. I highly doubt it has an alarm.

if you open the hood there should be a factory hood pin if it has a factory perimeter alarm

Sit in car, arm i.e. press lock on factory fob twice, wait one minute then open a door (do this from the back, opening a back door). red light could be just the transponder, you will need to by-pass this. ONLY solder joints, especially ign and starter, they will fall apart otherwise.

so did we ever find a solution to disarming / disabling the factory alarm?????

I myself have a 2003 explorer which I just put a remote start on. My only problem is disarming the factory alarm (or horn and lights when door opened while locked). I found the drk GREEN/ purple wire in the driver kick and wired it to my remote start system, but it can't disarm the factory alarm.

I also tried grounding the drk GREEN/ purple wire but the factory alarm was still going off when I reach through the window and open the locked door.

there has to be some other wire or some other location, since I have been at this for 3 days and can't seem to find a solution.

did you test the wire before you connected the system to it ???

Of corse I checked the wires, but I didn't really know what I was looking for. It says the wire is a neg.

Just to update, I did get the problem fixed. Though there are two drk. GREEN/ purple wires in the kick, both of them read 0.00V. Voltage would pulse to .002V with factory lock or unlock, otherwise everything was 0.00V. After wiring the relay and disarm signal to both wires and even grounding both wires - still had no success, factory alarm would not disarm with remote start disarm/unlock.

I went into the door and looked at the door lock - there are three wires that emerge from the connector and one is drk. GREEN/ purple. I tested it, resting 0.53V / 12V when armed. I wired this up to my remote start disarm wire (neg. 200mA pulse), and it WORKED.

I don't know why this wire worked vs the two in the driver kick (identical wires). Maybe they went through the fuse panel or some other circuit. I just ran the disarm wire through the door and soldered it to the drk. GREEN/ purple wire in the door. Everything works perfect.
