So I am trying to install the Viper 571xv into my 1972 Datsun 510. Obviously it had no power locks before, so I installed a couple of 2 wire door lock actuators. They are mounted and ready to wire. Here's where I'm stumped:

I am wondering what is the minimal installation to only use the door locks. Can I just hook up the power and ground and the door lock wiring? Which leads me to my second question.

What is involved in wiring the locks? I am pretty handy with electrical work, but the manual doesn't show any wiring for the door locks. Do I need to add a relays? If someone can give me an overview of what needs to be done that would be great.

Thanks,
Chris

Actuators / Reverse Polarity
This is practically identical to the 5 wire alternating 12V(+) system above. The only difference is there's no switch! Both motor legs rest at ground at the relays. To lock or unlock the vehicle, polarity is changed on one motor leg.

yes power, ground, and an ignition input to the alarm for ignition doorlocks, and of course the doorlocks and the relays, are minimal required connections in order for the doorlocks and the keyless entry to function, cheers.

the 571 should have come with a 451m relay pack for the door locks that has a diagram for different forms of locking systems, and aftermarket actuators is one of the diagrams in there. Really not too difficult to do.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I looked through everything in the box and there were any diagrams like you mentioned lil evo. That's why I was so confused.

Just out of interest, what's a 1971 Datsun 510 worth?

I don't recall writing all that, but if they say I did, I guess I did.

It is worth a LOT until you decide you want to install a radio in the OEM location.  Then it ain't worth so much.
