How can I tell what remotes on ebay will work on my python 450 esp? I am looking for used as I dont have any of the origional remotes. I think the factory one was 434 mhz. Does that mean any remote that transmits at 434 mhz will work?

I appreciate any help. I have a 2000 Dakota I have repaired and want to resell. It has remote start but I have no remote!

According to this site the 471T, 473P, and 474P are all compatible. I am pretty sure that any DEI remote that has a Green LED light will work too. The differences between the remotes are the number of buttons. If I remember correctly the 450 ESP had dedicated lock and unlock buttons so you would be looking for a remote that has the same...4 buttons total and a green LED. The letter at the end of the remote model number designates what the remote looks like, and what name/style the remote is. 474P = Python, 474T = Avital, 474V = Viper, 474A = Automate, any of these remotes should work fine.

Thanks so much. So forgive my ignorance, but will a used remote off of ebay or similar work and be programable to use with my system just like purchasing a new one? I mean, will a used one work?

A used remote that is in good working order will work fine.
